Problems With My Cat Back
Yea I was painting my rear brake calipers and I noticed that my exhaust had been rubbing against my rearend and wearing down the metal. Its almost put a hole in the pipe on one side and its wearing a spot away on the rearend! I took it to the shop that put it on and they tried to adjust it but it still rubs. They said the next option is to cut about an inch out of the pipe on both sides to get the pipe to set back further. That will make my tips look sunk in! The kit obviously wasnt bent with this in mind. Does anyone else have the same problem with the flowmaster kits? I heard a mustang the other day with a bassani exhaust and it sounded great! maybe ill have to get a bassani cat back.

no matter what exhaust you get there's a possibility of it not fitting perfectly. There are tolerances to concern yourself with. In any case, flows sound like azz inside so ditch them and get a muffler instead of a resonator (borla ProXS, magnapaks, bassani etc..) . Cut the inch out of the pipe or don't, it's your choice... it's not difficult to figure out where it's too long and trim it, nor to predict what that will do the the position of the tail pipe.
If you can crawl your butt under the car and see where it's hitting then you can clearly muster up the noggin power to figure out what will happen to one part when you lop an inch off another.
FWIW, I've had innumerable problems with rattling exhaust (didn't really care most of the time) and every system I've used has required a little twisting and jerking on to make it sit just right. I've had the best luck (and the easiest time) adjusting the height of the hangers instead of cutting pipe but that's based on the specific issues my other mods caused. Consider that as an option if you see it will help your case.
