Oil Question
I can get Mobil One Extra fully synthetic at the local wally world here for $26 5quart container. But it is 5W30. Anything wrong with using 5W30 instead of 5W20. I live in the Midwest too.
Thanks

I switched between 5w20 to 5w30 and back to 5w20 again and never noticed any kinda difference with the way the car ran.. I think they say it's better to use a heavier when it's hot? or did I get that backwards? lol

I want to use the 5W30 year around if I can. I realize that you can switch between the weights, but if I choose this route(it is the cheapest) I want to use it year around. Am I going to get into trouble in the winter with the heavier weight oil?

Part of the reason Ford and some others went to a 20 weight oil was because of gas mileage and tighter tolerances with the piston rings and couple other components. I run 5w30 mobil 1 year round. Not to mention it gets run hard at times. If you were running a petroleum product I probably would stick with 20 weight. Synthetic has superior flow capability over conventional at extreme temperatures. Should be fine.
