that post covers about everything...just keep in mind what you are wanting to accomplish e.t wise with your car..the higher (numerically) you go with gears the faster you will be reaching redline on the motor: you can manipulate rpm some what with taller tires.... so just keep in mind how fast you are wanting to make your car run...... im putting 3.73s in my car 'cause with the 4.10s and stock size tires i am limited to around 116 mph in the 1/4 with the 4R70W..... and i've heard that at cruising speed the increase in rpm is not very drastic...so gas mileage shouldn't be that major of a factor
