Default Catless in Kentucky....

I bought my 1998 GT later to find that it does not have catalayic converters. Needless to say the engine light stays on and horsepower is being robbed. The code being displayed is: P420 (exhaust emissions below threshold). I purchased a M.I.L elliminator kit thru JEGGS, but it's only intended to turn off the engine light. Don't waste your money people that doesn't even work. What can I do (besides puting catalayic converters back on the car) to restore the car to its original power? Please help!!!

I don't have personal experience running w/o cats, but you may have some other problem with the car. tons of people run offroad pipes with just the mil eliminators and make more power and sound louder. I don't know to what you are comparing to determine you are short of power, but just running catless should not decrease power.

I am confused....why do you think you are loosing power? If you still have mufflers on the car, it is making more hp with the cats off, then on. If you have very high-flow mufflers such as resonators, then you might be actually loosing power assuming that your car has resonators.

Cats generally rob power, not add power. Mill eliminators are design to turn off the annoying SES when cats are removed.

A stock Mustang has 4 O2 sensors. Two to monitor the a/f and two to monitor the function of the cats. No cats, then you don't need two of the sensors.

what part of KY? I'm also catless in KY. You're not loosing hp because of the missing cats, trust me.

Definately not losing horsepower, but you should get the code read just incase it is something else, also, get some mil eliminators or a chip to get it turned off, because if it stays on, then you might not notice a new light when something else goes wrong.
