Default 3Rd Gear Grinding…

When ever I shift into third gear above 3000RPM it grinds hard. Has anyone else had this problem? How do I fix it? And how much will it cost me?

Im thinking shift fork. Your car is too young to have synchros going bad, and your tranny is a better tranny than the t45.

Survey says:

*DING*
SHIFT FORK!

Costwise, your tranny is going to have to be taken down, disassembled repaired, and then put back in. Expect a good 4-7 hours of work on that. Its gonna run you pretty high.

Has it done it since your tri-ax has been in? All the short throw shifters have stoppers to prevent shift fork damage.

Hows your trans fluid? See any leaks? Try checking that to make sure its clean and at the right level. If not, youll have to change it in 10000 miles anyway so go with a full synthetic brand and youll never have to worry about it again.

synchros...the tr3650 are famous for their crappy synch's....just take it to your ford dealer and take the tranny tech on a ride along and show them how it grinds at 3,000rpms and they will fix it (the rebuilt my whole tranny for free)

Hopefully they will not notice that the car has 4.10 gears! Cause if they do, your warranty is screwed!
