Default Installing a new radiator fan connector

Anyone out there with experience with this process? I special ordered the part because the three prong connector that hooks up to the electric radiator fan had a short so the fan isn't turning on. I'm alright on the hwy, but quickly overheating in traffic. Georgia heat is fierce. I am picking up the harness tomorrow. It appears to snake all around the engine compartment so I wanted to know if anyone has experience replacing one of these. I am tempted to go the lazy way and cut the old harness below the connector and solder in the new connector.

It's just an easy splice in. No worries at all.
