The best way to do it IMO is to do heads, cams, and LTs all at the same time. Otherwise if you cut one of those out you're leaving a restriction point and not getting your full money's worth, even if you are spending more money overall.
Degreeing is a PITD but pays off in the end. Sound like that shop was just lazy. Personally, I wouldnt use stock springs with a motor that will spin up to 6500. I also would of bought a supercharger instead, wait, I did.
