Default HELP..LOW Idle 05 gt

My car has been turning off on me a lot lately. I checked the inside of the throttle body and it looks super black in there so that might be it.Also i have heard that it could be a dirty MAF.How do i clean both of these? I bought a superchips flashpaq programmer a month ago and as soon as i plugged it in the check engine light came on and it said my idle was lower than expected.I returned it to stock and the light stayed on and the rpms on the car were under 500,so do any of you think this programmer messed up my car or do you think it was a coincidence that the check engine light came on when i plugged it up for the first time? Please Help

First off, you don't need to post the same thread twice. What mods are on the car? I'm not sure on 05+ stangs, but try cleaning your IAC. Do the rpms kinda hang and then die?

I had to post it twice because ive got no response in almost a week. I took the mods off to see if maybe they were the problem but they werent. the idle just stays low all the time. The 05 and up cars dont have an IAC

I deleted the other thread. We have a lot of members that go away for the summer and the volume dies down during this time. It may be that no one looking at your post can answer it. If I am not mistaken for your model year every mod requires a tune and if you remove those mods you have to tune it back to stock.

Don't see how your intake manifold would be leaking.....there are hundreds of 05-09 owners and I've never heard of any of them having an intake manifold leak.

I can bet its either the tune.

A dirty MAF.

Or an intake part that isn't sealing correctly. (not the manifold)

I'm going to agree with 08 on this one.

I did have a similar problem with my 05 though. Dealership said my throttle body somehow went completely out. Replaced it, put all the aftermarket parts on and reinstalled the tune and it worked perfectly fine.

Try a new tune or just take it to a dealership with all the stock parts and stock tune on and find a solution .

how much did the dealership charge you to diagnose the problem ? how do you clean a MAF and a throttle body ?someone said carburetor cleaner but i thought that would damage that seal around the throttle body?

You have to clean them OFF of the car. Pull out the MAF and use some Throttle body cleaner (I'm sure carb cleaner will work fine), and just spray it lightly from a distance. Same goes for the TB. Just give it a few minutes to dry and then put it on and let it idle out for a little while and see if its any better.

If not. Sell that POS superchips tuner and get an SCT from AM with tunes.

They actually didn't charge me anything. They were very helpful actually.

Haven't heard of any problems with that. I changed mine about 8-12 months ago and everything is fine.
