Default Questions concerning 96-98 Cobras

Anybody know how the stock engines in these cars handle boost?

I have a real bad cobra itch right now and I'm starting to like the way the 96-98 cobra's look.

They'll only handle about 350-400whp stock I believe.

The trans in the older Cobras are what I've heard more problems from...Find a good one and get at it!

The aluminum block should be able to hold 800-1000hp, but the internals can probably only take 350-400 as 08mustang_gt said.

Cool cool... Here in the next few months I think I'm going to be able to either get a 96-98 cobra or a 99-01 cobra. I'm having trouble making my mind up right now.

That's what I would like to get, but I'm not sure. I think a lot of the 96-98 cobra's are over looked and I would like to have a sleeper.

01 Cobra would be ten times of a better way to go.

Plus, with 99-01 Cobras there are way more available parts, and also you have the availability to put 03-04 Cobra pieces on it. Which I always thought 01 Cobra with an 03 front and spoiler looked sickkkk.

96-98 Cobras are sweet, and are overlooked. But unless I found one with low miles, or a fresh motor I wouldn't take it.

the turd cobras are good cars but there just isn't as much flexibility with them. The IRS on the new edge cobras... meh, I don't like it but it's a really nice riding suspension for the street and a live axle is a cheap swap to make drag car out of. All in all I think the 01 is the best NA year of cobra. Now a 03 Mach 1 would be perfect... 01 cobra motor setup with a 03 bullit rear end and 3.55 gears.

Hmmm... I haven't thought about Mach 1's. The city that I'm stationed in is very small, and its only 2 Mach's and 2 Cobra's that I know of.

What's the price range on Mach's as of now? I looked around on SVT and I couldn't find many.

No idea. I've seen a few that were fairly low miles going for like 15k or so.

Could probably find some around 10 or 11k if I was to guess.

Average is like 12-14k. It all depends on the miles really.

It's like an 01 cobra but with a rear end that won't blow up on you for a few mild launches.
