So I just picked up a 96 mustang GT 5 speed convertible. I added a cold air intake, just ordered a eibach lowering kit and a short shifter. I want more power and better looks. I have heard about the PI head swap but right now thats a lil out of my price range help me please im new to the mustang thang! Thanks

A good bang for the buck is a off road mid pipe. Its cheap, makes it sound better, and adds a bit of power. Over all good deal if you ask me. I dropped 3 tenths in the 1/4 with nothing but a mid pipe swap.

Don't think the head swap is that expensive. You really may want to look into a full motor swap though. Any 99-04 mustang GT motor will plug right in and your accessories will bolt right up. The only thing you'll have to make sure to get is the intake manifold, otherwise you run all your stock sensors, injectors and coil packs. You should be able to pick up a complete GT motor in decent shape with modest miles for <1000 bucks intake to oil pan. The head swap is not that bad itself... 100 dollar intake, 2-500 for heads with cams and valve covers, 200 for the head swap kit, add labor if you can't do it (it's not that hard really) and you're done.

Crazy has made an amazing conversion to having a positive attitude... shocking, shocking I say.

Motor swaps are CAKE. Head swaps are actually more technically involved. You can get a motor put in in 3 hours.

the smog tech won't even be able to tell it's a newer motor AND in our state (I'm up by Frisco) as long as the same motor came in your car and is the same year or newer and you leave all the smog equipment in place then you're solid. The parts are considered stock replacement parts, so in short no you should not have any smog issues. Even if some dick sends you to a referee you'll be green lighted. I'm pretty sure you won't ever see a referee.
