Default 4.6 explorer motor in mustang

will the explorer-moutaineer aluminum block eng fit the mustant 2002 with the usuall oil pan, exhaust ,header. pipe possibly intake change? used. they run about the same price and not likely beat on. Roy e mail at ocoeelin@mindspring.com thanx weight savings would be worth it to me

they're a VERY popular conversion with the drag crowd. Yes it works and it's fairly easy. Front cover swap and some other minor bits and pieces need to be taken care of but it should be fairly easy. Looks like you already know the bulk of what's up.

5.4's out of expeditions, vans and pickups work too with the HPS 5.4 intake.

I did this swap and it's pretty easy. Just like Red said you will need to swap the front cover as well. You can use the explorer intake if you want. I did. Feel free to ping me if you have any questions.

My friend did this in a 99 with a 5 speed. Went smooth for him, and the fronts sooo light in his gt, that the front end sticks up like allllll the sixxers out there. Improved his car MAJORLY.

hi actually i need ur help. i have 2000 mustang gt with 4 spd auto it’s burning engine oil so bad. Then i bought 2003 explorer engine fully rebuilt by ford but when i took my mustang engine and I noticed my mustang have 8 bolts and explorer engine have 6 bolts in crank flywheel fitting. So plz let me know what changes I have to do to fit that explorer engine in my mustang?
