you'll need a motor. Doesn't really matter what year except that you'll want the PI heads so I'd look for a 2000-2003. Make sure you get one with a front cover. You get it for what you get it for... I've gotten them from 80 bucks to 500 bucks complete but needing variable amounts of work. Up to about 1200 for a low mile running motor with no problems is common. Shop around. Look hard.

You'll need an 8 bolt flywheel and a pilot bearing. You'll need to figure out if you have a T45 or a TR3650 trans for me to help you much further with that. If the drain plug faces the ground it's a 3650.

You'll need an HPS intake, there's one for sale cheap in the 5.4 swap thread, last page.

Other than that you'll need stuff off your old engine including oil pan, pickup tube, exhaust manifolds, accessories, sensors, etc...

It's pretty much just a simple drop in. There's a few really minor tweaks and normally one visit to the muffler shop and you'll be ready to rock. It's not hard but allow yourself a few days to complete it.

As for cost, if you got the motor for free, then it'll cost you an oil change, coolant change, flywheel, pilot bearing, some heater hose, clamps and such, and the HPS intake. So you could do it as low as about 700 bucks if you do the work yourself. After that a mail-order tune will get you streetable reliability. You'd be SHOCKED at what it nets you in the SOTP area.
