Default Please help me decide which exhaust to buy

I have a 2002 Gt and im looking to get an aftermarket exhaust system. My friend is selling me his barely used BBK catted x pipe. But my question is what exhaust should I get? Currently I am leaning towards SLP loudmouth 2s. I should also state that i want the deepest, throatiest sounding cat back to go with the BBKs. They also have to be loud but not sound rice. Please don't tell me to get a different mid pipe because I am set on the BBKs. Only asking about which cat back to buy.

The SLPS are loud but running down the highway they can be a pain they dont go low tone and lots of bang bang everytime you lift off gas pipe

My buddy has LM1s and from what I've heard there's no snap, crackle or pop. I'll see if I can track down a sound clip.

Ive done a good amount of research on youtube but the problem is that nothing on video sounds the same as when your standing next to the car. Im trying to avoid loudmouth 1s because I just got a speeding ticket for going 78 in a 35 and trying to aviod unneeded cop attention, and ive heard 1s will get you pulled over. But what does everyone suggest as the best cat back to go with a catted x?

X-pipe doesn't equal throaty. If you want throaty, stay w/ H. As for mufflers, chambered mufflers such as Flows or Aeros should suit you well (I hear better things about the Hooker Aerochambers).

Ok I also had another question. If for example I were to keep my stock h pipe and swap out the stock mufflers for flowmaster 40 series mufflers, would it sound close to the same as if I installed the american thunder cat back system with the stock h pipe? Remember i want a pretty loud, deep muscle car tone.

N thank you for everyones input so far.

It would make it louder and sound pretty close to it. However the only benefit power wise from a catback which is a small one, comes from the larger tubing and use of better mufflers. Also just a catback isnt gonna make the car very loud unless you use SLP loudmouth 1's and even then with stock H its not to bad at all.

you say you want it loud, but then again you say you dont want the cops attention either?

I had borla exhaust on a mach1 and it was awesome, loved the deepness, but it wasnt to over powering either, but they arent too cheap unless you can find a good deal.

you want a thraoty deep sound...hooker aerochamber mufflers would be my choice, since it was. hardly anyone ever uses them, dunno why...they sound great. not a cat back system though, they are just mufflers.

I almost forgot about Stingers. Man, if I didn't have my setup, I'd go with Stingers.

Ok after more research on the price of borlas im going to have to pass on it. Its just too much for just the cat back and after talking to a few other people i think im going to get the bbk catted x pipe. A guy i know who knows a crap load about mustangs told me to get mac or flowmasters with the x pipe. Does anyone agree or disagree about this set up?

I have to say, I love my setup. LT headers, o/r x-pipe, with flows dumped. I have a deep *** rumble at low rpms and the car screams up top. The sound clip in my sig is with the same setup minus the mufflers being dumped. I'll have to record another clip here soon.

An X pipe will have a higher pitched soung than an H pipe. If it's the low rumble you are after, look into an H pipe. Is the BBK x free?

I agree with the Flows and Mac statement, but for better quality and fitmet go with the new JBA catback. The catback is completely stainless steel, it is chambered so sounds very similar to Flowmaster and Mac, and the look and fitmet quality is top notch. I had Flowmasters on mine with a catted x until the catback rusted out because it wasn't stainless steel. A guy at Ninosport recommended the JBA, and I am very happy with it. I think I got it for like $460 shipped from Ninosport. Definitely a great price for a stainless steel catback. Sounds awesome!

mac prochamber and mac dumps

simple and cheap and sounds just fine

the most expensive cat back on the planet wont make a stock 4.6 sound like a bigblock...really no point in researching the omgz very bestest one

unless you are a state iwth emission testing i would **** can that bbk catted midpipe because cats rob power
