DYNO RESULTS and anger!

Well I got a dyno today and my results are:
255HP and 298TRQ! I'm pretty damn impressed with those numbers especially the trq, but i still want to know why i can't run under a 13.9 in the quarter mile? I'm this close to sellin the stang and buying a Vette.....I drove a stock 07 vette the other night and clicked off a 12.5 bone stock....i feel like i've wasted thousands of dollars and have little to show for it. I know i need drag tires and i will order some soon, but i'm so sick of stock Camaros and other pos cars kicking my car's ass. This car is my baby and i love it and the numbers are even good.... so what's the deal with my poor track experiences? I powershift i have good reaction times and my 60 ft is decent.

MattJ 08-07-2007 05:38 AM

Sounds like you need to practice driving. I was running 13.90s with a throttlebody/plenum combo, sct xcal 2, and k&n drop in filter. I pushed it down to 13.50s with 3.90s. And after headers, midpipe, steeda CAI, I just couldnt hook anymore on my tires.

Stop wasting money on small stuff just get a power adder and call it a day. ,*You want a 4.6l to compete with larger disp engines or the highly efficient import engines which is not going to happen. If you dont really like the mustangs styling cues just get rid of it and get something you will be happy with. I happen to like how Mustangs look so having a wimpy engine is something that I will have to deal with which is easily fixed with money spent in the right parts.

spike_africa 08-07-2007 01:51 PM

whats the stats for the best 1/4 run you have done? 60' 1/4 time/speed etc....

my car with just drag radials and mufflers and h-pipe went 13.71@101

Cheddar 08-09-2007 05:06 PM

throw boost into the mix and you will have no problem munch on vette's and camaro's (stupid camaro's)**grumbles**

nice Stang BTW venom

You just might have answered your own question when you said your car was your baby. Guys with good times generally drive it like they stole it. Some guys even drive it like they stole it from the guy he caught banging his wife. Seriously, if your car is making that much power and you have 4.10's, either you live somewhere with bad air, or it's the driver. If cars are passing you that you should be beating, then you already know the answer.

I am not trying to bash you. When my car was n/a and had 4.10's, I took it to the track and ran 14.3. I let a friend drive it and he ran a 13.8. My 60 foot time was better, but he apparently ripped through the gears much better then I did. It is a hrad thing to admit, but if you happen to have the "I am the best driver in the world attitude" you will never learn (I am not saying that you do, just making a point).

Take 2003/2004 Cobras for example. I have seen guys run 12.3 stock and I have seen guys run 13.8. They are especially hard to drive and launch and when guys treat them like the first girl they poked, well then, you end up with 13.8's.

Bottom line, you might sell it for a Vette, but you may end up just bitching because some guy in a Mustang beat you who really hates his car.

So, repeat after me 30 times before you go at the track the next time:

"I hate my car, I hate my , I hate my car......." and your times will probably improve.

If my advice is misdirected and you already do this, then I apologize and I hope to not offend. Maybe you need to pull some weight.

BTW, what was your trap speed? That will tell us if you are making the power that the dyno says you are. These cars have a lot of potential if they are set up right and driven like crazy. We have a guy here with an auto, no power adder, and he runs 12.9's.

jeredan2003 08-09-2007 08:06 PM

seriously just get you a nice n20 kit.....it will turn your car into an animal....

stage2roush2002 08-11-2007 01:56 PM

Mustangs have so much more potential than vettes. Don't do it.

chatmanv6 08-11-2007 02:36 PM

how do you only have 255hp? I thought 99-04's had 265 stock...

Pushrods respond a lot better to modifications than a modular motor will. You install mods on both cars, and the vette will see a greater percentage than the modular motor will.

What do you call decent? Anything more than 2.00 is NOT decent.
Sub 2 second 60ft times are the key to a good E.T.

See above.

NeedACobra 08-11-2007 04:46 PM

seems like Ford could have done a little better with those numbers, but I guess thats what they made the cobra for.

Mustang is a budget sports car. More power is more money. Thats why they have the cobra, or the ford GT if you really got some cash.

NeedACobra 08-11-2007 09:27 PM

Mmmm..that Ford GT sure is nice. Its too bad I dont have that kinda money though.

Didnt ford make a cobra with like..385hp?

03,04 Cobra's were "Factory Rated" at 390 HP. Many were much higher.

chatmanv6 08-12-2007 06:43 AM

they should make the gts with the 5.4 engine wit 350ish hp and them make the Cobra wit a 6 point something wit 500ish hp...but u r right they are a budget car

For the prices they are charging for the S197's they should have alot more HP.For as basic as a Mustang is it should have more power stock from the factory.

Hell my Truck has a nicer interior and loaded with option's with 315hp and 338tq and after rebate's I got it for $28,500.

And now the Challenger AND the Camaro is about to come out with more HP too WTF!

Yeah but vette parts are so much more expensive.

Are those your choices when you sell your truck next year? :salook:

jjmustang04 08-12-2007 09:47 AM

I have 2004, and it has 265 to the crank and about 225 to the wheels. I think he is saying that he has 255 to the wheels after his modifications.

but you're forgetting that the mustangs are going to get a bump in power for the 2009 model year so they can try to compete

Each engine has a different horsepower rating. Some more than 260 and some less, but most of them fall pretty close to that number.

Emphasis on the word TRY please. Ford always likes to play catch up. :shakeno:

dont expect to see anything to fancy. They cant compete with their current line-up and beat their fastest most expensive car with an affordable one.
Considerig the GT is now gone, they will have to be somewhere between the GT500 and the mustang gt.
