Default tranny cooler blew a line today...

so im at a stoplight you know doing what we do at a stoplight. well the light turns green i hit the pedal to go and the car just revs up engages for a second and the car just stops movin.... i get out of the car look behind it and see a huge puddle of red fluid. after that i flipped my lid and started yelling all these obsenities (sp) at the car. while i waited for some help i started looking around and found the problem. i put the line back on filled the tranny with 8 quarts checked the dip stick. it's over serviced just a lil bit but the good news was that the converter started working again.

i dont know what kind of damage i done but im not puttin anymore money into a auto tranny.....

I could never trust an auto. they heat up too much and if you try and cool em down with coolers, its more **** you have to worry about leaking.

i have a tranny temp gauge in mine. they are just too expensive to not monitor if you like to have fun with your car.

I did some drastic stuff with my tranny cooler after it slipped off the barb fitting. Took the fitting off and theres a lip on the hard line itself and took two worm clamps and tightened the **** out of those two as a failsafe. Hasnt leaked since. But too much heat and drying out the tranny isnt a good thing and I always check the tranny cooler every month for possible leaks
