Default 96 gt q's

Hello all,
You guys have an awesome forum here. I've spent hours reading stuff (doesn't make the g/f too thrilled!) but now I know more about my mustang. Both of my older brothers had mustangs, one had an 88 GT and the other had a 91 GT and 92 LX 5.0. They got me started on mustangs way back when...
A few weeks ago I bought a '96 GT vert 5spd w/80k miles on it. The lady bought it brand new and had a folder full of maintenance records from the day she bought it. She babied it majorly! I know that '96 wasn't the best year for the stang, but hey I love the body style and the price was right. I have a few questions.

1) The cruise control doesn't work. I've checked all the fuses, none blown. The buttons feel normal so I think they're alright. Also, the plugs on the clutch and brake pedals appear ok. Any suggestions?
2) Sometimes when I'm letting out the clutch in reverse, it pops out of gear. I'm pretty sure it's all the way in gear when it happens so I'm wondering what's going on.

Other than those issues, the car runs like it's brand new. Thank you for your advice! I'll probably be asking some more questions in the future! Here's a pic of my baby!

the car looks great for a 96, and if those lil problems are all it has, you got one helluva deal! i'm not too familiar with the cruise control issue...mainly due to the fact that i don't have it on my stang, lol. but the reverse thing is most likely due to a worn out synchronizer. same thing happend on an old f-150 i use to drive, except it was it's 3rd gear synchronizer, sucked goin' down hills then pop! outta gear..but anyways, i'm not sure where in the transmission it is, how hard it is to get to, if you should do it yourself, or how much. some of the other guys on here might be more knowledgeable on that stuff. there seems to be a bright group of ppl here...more then i can say for some of the other 'stang forums i've come across.

My shifter boot has gotten caught up before and made the trans pop out of gear. Check the boot for signs of getting pinched, it might be something that simple.
