Default cams install?

im smart enough to know that if i want to spend money on cams to not do it myself cuz i would ruin everything, but how much should it cost for the install, cuz if its way too much like freakin 400 bucks, then screw this idea and ill find something else, any knowledge on this topic is great, and if anyone has cams, what company, do you feel much of a power adder, and was it a good buy, thanks

A local performance shop quoted me $600 to install cams. Is it worth it? Yes, it can also help you down the road if you go with a power adder.

500 + is what i've been told and heard. If you get the tools yourself, it's not that hard to do.

paying 4-600 isn't a bad price. To tell you the truth, I pulled my cams and springs off and if you're going to do the springs, it's a 100% PITA. I had to modify a kragen valvespring compressor so make it work and it's still a mudder fugger.

It's not hard but it will take most of the day and done incorrectly is a bad thing. Like major engine damage bad. Pay the price, enjoy the wicked power bump and thank yourself for popping for the install cuz your hands will be clean and your ride will be fast.

what are your goals for your car? planning on staying N/A? I really love my VT Stage 2 N/A cams.. a lot of people will vouch for VT, but a lot of people also run Comp Cams. I would say that those are the 2 brands to really look into. and as far as pricing goes on install.. if you go with cams comparable to the Stage 2's you're going to need new valvesprings, which like redneck said.. is a PITA to install and you will be quoted prices around 600+ for the install of that, and that's also because most people will pull the heads off to install the valvesprings, which is a lot of **** to go through, but so is installing valvesprings with the heads in lol. and about how much power it added.. here's my dyno sheet that compares before and after cams..
