Cams question
I was looking at getting cams done in the next few weeks, and was wondering the difference between these two:
Comp Cams XE268H #102200
Comp Cams XE262AH Cams #102500.
I've seen a lot of people with the 262s, but I can't figure out why one over the other. If anyone has any experience or opinions on the 265s, I'd love to hear it. Thanks,

the AH is for pi headed cars cams with only H are for non pi headed cars. I dont know anyone with the 268 cams. i know of a few people with 262 there are a few on this site as well who will chime in i am sure.
The 262 is a great daily driver cam it adds power in the middle and up top without hurting the bottom end to badly. There was one fellow on MD who made 22hp with these cams. Not a bad gain at all. mpg will almost always go down with cam swaps, the more wild it is the more fuel it will eat.

The 96-98 GT's are 2valves and have non Pi heads. Then for the 99-04 2v GT's Ford made PI (power improved) heads and that gave us alot more power. That is what your car has. So you can only use "AH"
Labeled cams like the 262,270,278 comp cams.
Even with a tune cams will hurt your mpg, there is nothing to get around that. but with the 262 it shouldnt be that much at all.

the stock cams in the 96 models are set at wierd degrees, so when you install your new cams, make sure you have someone who knows what they are doing, and that they can get the cam at the right degrees with the engine. pick up august MM&FF theres an article on a 96 cobra install new cams - not sure if it is the same with 99 up GT's but its worth a look.

268 are non-PI cams, which equal out to comp 270 cams for PI heads. And comp 270's drop dangerously low for stock blocks, you have to fly cut the pistons to avoid any possibility of knocking. That's why everybody goes either comp 262's, or vt stage 2's.

I have the XE278AH'S and from EXPERIENCE you probably will have PISTON TO VALVE CLEARANCE ISSUES WITH THESE. I listened to the Tech Guys at Comp and was assured I wouldn't have any problems with them. I should of listened to the guys on here cuz I got Focked! Live and learn
