i have a GT and my friend is supposed to get a mach 1.

the question is! what would it take for me to keep up with/beat a mach 1?

nitrous. With the power i'm making.. i pull stock mach's... but modded... they pull me up top.

 

put on some 4:30's with a DR and catch him from a dig

 

Spray the car, and he'll be toast.

 

Yep the cheapest way to do it is spray otherwise your going to have to full exhaust, cams, gears ect.....and that's just to keep up with him stock....now if he starts modding look out! But spray will do the trick.

I've raced several modded 99-04 GT's and because of 4:10 or 4:30 gears and sticky tires they can sometimes pull me from a dig, but once I hit the end of
2nd and pull through 3rd it's usually over pretty fast. So just get some spray and good tires and whoop him ....but if he refuses to race you while spraying your in trouble! ha ha

 

That's why in a week i'll have a hidden shot of the juice! Run him once... hang with him.... run him twice... walk all over 'em!

 

i beat a mach 1 at the track pretty bad but i think he was a bad driver he ran a 15.92

 

What is the difference between the GT and the Mach I???? What is the HP/TQ on a Mach I???? I didn't think it was that much of a difference to be blowing GT's away...... Cobra yes, Mach I no........

 

Mach 1 is a 4v just like the Cobra's. Very similar to the 99-01 Cobra engines. 305 base HP, correct?

Us GT's are just 2v.

if its a cobra model or a mach1 model then yes it would other wise no.

 

roush did not make machs, and very few cobras. I wish i had a 4 valve

 

Ya hes a crappy driver. I know a guy with a stock mach1 running 13.2

 

The mach 1 engine is somewhat like the 01 Cobra engine, but better.....The Mach engine gets higher compression, better cams, some better tuning, and improved exhaust manifolds that are port-matched to the heads. The suspension is a little different and the best part....the live axle, which is great for drag racing.

There are lot's of guys on the mach 1 registry that run 13.1-13.3 stock and then add 4:30 gears and run high 12's. I had an 03 GT with lots of boltons, but the mach is just a way different car.

I know I'll probably get some crap for saying this, but if you get spray tell the guy your using the bottle when you race and if you don't it's cheating!

 

Race what you brung. If you lose you weren't fast enough. there.. there's the crap we were supposed to give you.

Don't count on beating the Mach for long.. he's only a gear change from smoking even a well prepped GT. Nitrous, cams, suspension, and weight reduction are the best places to look after a gear change to 3.73-4.10. Weight reduction is the best way to drop your times initially, after that it's a toss up.

 

Just get a nice nitrous kit. I raced a bolt on Mach 1 and absolutely destroyed it. He had to have been embarrassed with his friends all in the car.......

 

Rule 2... don't expect to win if you bring your friends in the car with you during the race.

ha ha....thanks for taking it easy on me. I'm not a fan of nitrous at all and people usually jump on me pretty hard for saying stuff like that. I guess my point was that if your asked if your running nitrous and you lie about it and then spray during the race.....that's cheating in my book.

there are a lot of different models of v8 mustangs out there so i was wondering when compared how are the mach 1's, roush's, cobra's, and saleens all different?

 

I have never done that and I never will. Most nitrous users are the same as me. I like bragging that I have the spray on it cause then they go "Thats so cool!". People dont really lie about what they have around here unless it a ricer. If someone did what you are saying then yes it is cheating, but he didnt say he was going to do that.

If some random car pulls up next to me on the strip, and they dont know what I have and I dont know what they have......Then its " Run What Ya Brung" Baby....

 

I agree with you, if a car rolls up next to you and wants to go then it's "run what you brung" and if you get your azz whooped cause the other dude has spray then...oh well, it happens. Oh I know he never said he was going to lie about it or anything...I just know people that have lied about it and that's retarted

 

Totally agree. Lying about your mods or how and when you're gunna use them is one of the worst and more dangerous things you can do. You fib in a race for anything but bragging rights, you might just get buried in concrete and rightfully so. You fib in a race for bragging rights.. and you just might get beat down on general principle. Best to be honest and tell em you're gunna spray before the race.

I don't like nitrous much myself but in small doses it's a lot of fun. A 50hp shoot is the biggest kick in the pants... beyond that meh... blower time.

From my point of view I'll take a whoopin from a focus on spray if I know he's spraying. That's part of the game. Who's faster with what they got. Focus tries to claim a kill after fibbing to me about using spraying... I might just kick someone in the mouth for being a cheat and a liar. I'm a hot-headed jerk that way. Good to see we're on the same side.

I wouldn't say that he's cheating if he doesn't say anything about his nitrous. I'd call him smart for using nitrous as a great equalizer for racing a more superior car and turning it into more of a fair race. You can just as easily say that the mach is cheating because of it's better performance engine (if you didn't know any better).

A pale comparison but if I strap twin turbos to my gt and raped an 03/04 cobra, would it be considered cheating? Heck no! That cobra has not only the better engine but a supercharger to boot. Just because it came that way from ford vs me buying turbos from a performance parts company doesn't mean I'm cheating. I build it how I want as discreetly as I want it to be.

If I race another gt and he smokes me because he has nitrous, I'm not going to say he's cheating! I'm going to turn around and make mine better because what's the sense of racing stock vs stock anyway? To see who's the better driver?

I don't see how you say the mach1 engine is better when stock mach1's have 305 to the crank and 01 cobras(non-supercharged) have 320 at the crank....wouldn't that mean the cobra's engine is better? or atleast that the mach 1 isnt tuned as much

 

Mach 1- 4valve DOHC 305 hp
Roush- Depends which stage, could be supercharged350-400hp
cobra- 93-01 320hp 03-04 390 hp and 07 475hp
Saleen- superchargerd 350-400hp

 

All Saleen's are 2v's as well. The base Saleen is nothing more than an upgraded visual and interior of the GT's. Only performance mods are underdrive pulleys, Borla exhaust, and I believe 3.55 gears. Rated at 285HP.

 

mach and cobras have different heads yes. The cobra slightly better, in some way i don't know. But the machs have a higher compression ratio, Giving them the advantage, plus a solid axle... so 99/01 cobra < mach

 

Supercharged Saleen 2Vs arent that fast. I beat a red one.
