Kenne bell 1.7l
ok I've been thinking about superchargers and I'm thinking about either a slaeen s/c or the Kernne bell 1700 kit. Is there anything else i would need to get with the charger, gears, etc.? I want to know of everything i could possibly need in order for this thisng to work properly. I have auto tranny. Im leaning towards the KB intercooled but don't know if i want to spend that much money. is it worth it?
I wont be doing this until mid summer so please give me any advice you could possibly give me.. and is milage really a big issue with S/C? I have over 50,000 80% highway

You'll want fuel pressure and boost gauges, and a wideband o2 kit is a good investment.
You might want to go to 3.73s with an auto. Mine's just fine with a manual and 3.27s though.
Slap it on, check the tune on a dyno, and enjoy. You won't regreat doing it.

My gas mileage is horrible. It's tough to get 15mpg out of it when I baby it.
But, my tune, according to 3 dynos, is rich as hell <= 10:1 A/F. Kenne Bell repeatedly says my tune is dead on.
It's getting retuned as soon as I can pull it out of storage. I'd then expect to get at least 22mpg on the highway with it.
There's a good Kenne Bell tech forum over at Modular Fords, read through the whole forum, lots of good info.

Here's my dyno graph at 9 psi.

I have fouled a set of plugs as well (TR6) - so, yeah, I think it runs a bit rich...

If you got a Saleen blower, only get the series IV. the series II is a waste of money and would get no more than 450RWHP even ported, pulley changed, and swapping to a series VI inlet system. This was is an Eaton Blower.
The series IV is a Whipple blower and can support much more power. IMHO tho, just get a Kenne Bell, the only reason to get a Saleen is if someone is trying to pully off a clone/replica.

Yeah, if you're thinking about a blower then gas milage should not be something you're basing your decision on. It's gonna suck for the most part. When I can get on open highway and set the cruise and draft behind someone I only get 24. In the city, I'm lucky to hit 15.

Yeah gas mileage doesn't really matter to me i just wanted to get an idea of what you guys were gettin. id rather have power than get good gas mileage. Im pretty much set on the Kenne bell, but that wont be for a couple of months, so i am going to reaserch this thing and see if i can install it my self... what do you guys think? and what psi should i run it at? i want the most power with the least stress on the engine.
does anyone have any other suggestions on any other s/c's that would be good to look at?

10# is pushing it, 9#is relatively safe.
The install is time-consuming, but not hard. The directions provided with the kit are top-notch. Each step includes a picture, tells you what wrench, what bolt and what to torque the bolt to. Makes it almost too easy.

Kenne Bell will not give their tune out to XCal users to be flashed. They'll supply a chip with their kit; but you can probably not get that with an order and just get a custom tune if you wish. You'll just have no warranty from them on the blower.
