Exclamation Interesting...

Well as some of you know, i have been in a search to find a good cheap replacement tire for my almost bald 315/35 Nitto Dr's...I had made up my mind on getting a set of Sumitomo HTR's since i'm going to be doing alot of driving, and nittos just don't last very long. Well, i remember i had a buddy that owns a tire shop and today, while passing by his shop, i thought for a moment, maybe just maybe he had a decent pair of used 315's...I knew it was a long shot but decided to stop by anyways. Soon i discovered that he did not have a set of 315's to replace my nittos. Tomorrow, we're suppose to be seeing some very bad weather in the area, and i've had my share of close calls in the rain with these close to bald nittos. We're suppose to have some freezing rain and i was a bit worried about my well being. I asked if he ever had any 315 by chance to which he replied no. He then proceeded to give me a quick lesson on my nitto dr's. I had heard a few times before that 315 nitto dr's were not "true" 315's but were in fact smaller. I had never proven this so i was skeptical when he said that he had a decent set of 275/40 Bf goodrich Comp T/A's laying around which he said would fit pefectly on my 10.5" rim. I was like GTFO man!!!! thats too small of a tire...and he was like, believe what you want but why would i lie to you? So, hes like i'll tell you what, how about we change one tire just to see if i'm right or wrong at no charge to you of course!! I was very, very skeptical but hey what did i have to lose. So he proceeded and to my astonishment the 275/40 comp t/a fit better and look to be the same size as the 315' dr's...In fact the way the comp t/a's are shaped, they offer curb protection unlike the nittos. Needless to say i was very happy with the way the tires fit and look that i told him to change the other one and went home with a smile. He even gave me a killer deal as well. $70 bucks for both tires, and a buddy of mines will buy my old nittos for $60 bucks to use at the track!!!..it was win/win situation for me.

Sorry it took so long but thought i'd let you guys know. And yes in fact 315 dr's are not true 315's...

PS: I hope all this makes sense...

Good deal. I learned this lesson also. I have BFG 275 DR's on my stocker wheels, and they BULGE like no other. So it looks meatier and fills out the fender until my wheels/tires come in.

yah kinda wierd eh?

I got some sumitomo 315's on my 10.5's and they bulge nicely.

The guy orderd me 245's and i was wanting 275. he assured me that 245 would fit perfectly on my 9's and that is what i should get. I figured ahh hell, ill take a gamble on it, if they dont look right i can just bitch and tell them to get the 275's.
Damn, it looked right. got em on and im happy.

I'm running 245/45's on my front 17x9's...

Yeah man I thought I was the only one! I was in the Library today (yes I Finally found it) and the site kept timing out, I was like wtf?

Ne who..back on track...

Hmmm So you say the 275 BFGoodwrench T/A's fit with a bulge? or just perfectly? The 275 Pirelli's I have fit flush with very little curb protection... I was thinking about gettin the BFG's when these wear out, but I didn't know how their wet traction was...Like jon says Pix or :ban:

I would be lying if i said they are the same exact size..honetly i'd have to say they are a bit, just a tad bit smaller. Maybe by a few centimeters but nothing major...and yes the tires fit perfectly. Right now i have them at 40 psi and i use to run my nittos at 25 psi all the time. I'm sure if i lower this suckers down to like 30 pis they will look just like the nittos..

If this is all true. Do you think a nitto 335/30/18 would fit decently with a 18x10 wheel?

Question: would a 275/40/17 BFG DR get a better time than a 295/35/18 BFG street tire? Specifically the KDW2's.

Reason for asking is I have another set of wheels that are 17x8, would putting a DR tire on this be beneficial for me at the track or the street tires be fine since they're bigger.

The 275's would get your better times, one because they are dr's and second because 17's are better for the track than 18's...

Would it be worth keeping two 17x8's and getting some GOOD DR's??? I got the wheels, so I would just need tires.
Or would it be smarter to get some drag lights or soemthing. How much of a difference from teh 17x8 DR's and the 18x10 streets? 0.2? 0.3?

Sorry for the bad quality. These pics don't do the tires justice. They bigger than what they appear...
