My friend last year owed the school a little money after all his financial aid went through. He owed the school like a dollar and change and they made a big deal about it. They kept sending him mail saying that he couldn't sign up for the next semester's classes until his fees were paid. We went down there and paid it in pennies.

i know its a loan...i've been doing this college thing for 7 years now. but the point is i am given the loan regardless...sure, i could take the $500, not buy my x pipe, and put it toward the 26,000 in loans i have already...haha...yeah, that 500 is really gonna put a dent in the total amount owed. plus, u guys do know that if u can enjoy a little extra from loans (i.e. a refund check) now u might as welll b/c you'll never find a loan like a student loan with such a low interest rate.

Yes, and honestly, I worry about your financial future, and im only 18. For you to look at it with that attitude of, "oh, whats another 500 on top of 26 THOUSAND!" Thats just stupid man, get the loans paid off, whether its a "great" interest rate or not, its still interest. Add it up, what is it, like 5 percent? Thats over 1300 bucks in interest alone. Just food for thought, start early so you dont have to pay for it later in life.

not true. i have a fixed interest rate. moreover, i appreciate you worrying about my financial future but i think i'm all set. unlike most people, i go to grad school and work full time so that every single month i can continually pay off the loans. i wasnt saying i'm gonna take all 1500 and blow it. i'll buy one mod, and most likely put the rest toward my principle...it'll all work out....

Don't be dumb man. Take it from me. I would get a new credit card everytime I wanted a big purchase before I had a real job and it still haunts me. I had 4 credit cards at one time that were maxed out. You miss one payment and once you get hit with the late charge you get an over limit charge and you are screwed. Basically I had cards with a $500 limit and some had $800 amounts on them because I got so deep into it I couldn't keep up with all of them. I was smart and finally paid all of them off with the help of a second job. I have high interest rate on my car loan because of it and just got approved to build a house but I am in the medium interest rate. I am getting my car paid off in a few months and then my credit score will allow me to get a house in the low interest rate. Don't mess around with credit man because even if you get something paid off, it stays on your credit history for 7 yrs. Be wise.
