Parts
Hey I'm new here, just got a new 2004 Mustang GT. I was wondering if I could get some of your ideas for beginning parts I should do to it since the car is completely stock. This summer I'm planing on getting an intake kit and some flowmaster mufflers. What do you guys think?

Welcome to the funny farm. Modding is a hoot. Just remember to always follow the Golden Rule:
"NEVER ADD UP THE COST OF ALL YOUR MODS!"
Now that we have that out of the way, you have two ways to go:
1 - Go Fast Mods
2 - Looks Fast Mods
Both are good, you just need to decide your priorities and determine your budget. Don't make any quick decisions. Be sure to read, read, read and ask for opinions.
An exhaust is a really personal things, so be sure to choose carefully. You don't want to spend $400 and then hear a Mustang go by and say "Man, I wish my car sounded like that."
Spend a few hours pouring over old threads here and you will learn a lot.

StangAddict yeah, that sounds nice but i don't want to put side exhaust on it it'll look like a V6 from the rear. But don't get me wrong, i love side exhaust, I know a guy who has a 2001 GT with side exhaust magnaflow mufflers. I was listening to flowmastermufflers.com's muffler sounds and the Super 40's sounds real nice. What kind of intake do you guys think i should get, i was thinking about BBK's intake kit for 4.6 V8's...

I love the sound of ur flow masters :P, Okay this is what I want... You know when u rev the engine like around 2,000 or so and let it come down you hear that "bubbly" sound, I want to hear that louder and i want the car sound louder at the same time so people can hear me coming or leaving or such. Do you know what I mean? I have been told to go with flowmaster's 2 chambered mufflers, what do you guys think?

You can get it louder without cats but the best thing to do is to go to mustangexhaust.com and listen to more clips. This one has my brothers slp exhaust with my flows http://www.mustangtuningforums.com/showthread.php?t=993 , You will notice that his sounds different but its misleading as you have to drive the car to see how it will sound on load and deceleration. I will try to get some more vids of both cars. Just having the car at a standstill and reving the engine is not good enough to make a good choice. Like you said you want to hear how it sounds on deceleration which is something that I forgot to do.

There's another huge problem with exhausts... what you hear when someone else drives by and what you hear while driving the same car... Personally, I drive my car and only care about what I hear...
Was an interesting experience over the weekend... got to take the top down on my car for a bit... holy smokes does my exhaust just SCREAM under load... it's great :blob3: Let me tell you though, it's world's different then what u hear when the top is up.

Well that's true but not completely, if you have side exhaust you will hear the same for in the car and out of the car if it's loud, I know that for a fact from this guy's car that I know. But my car with the exhaust shooting out the back, you will hear more out side than inside. But I want it to be louder so I can hear it inside aswell as being loud outside. Similiar to the old fasion glass packs on old muscle cars... you were able to hear it in both senses...

Gears, Cat-back exhaust and a shifter are usually the best starting points and are a good foundation for future mods. Dont waste your money with any cold air kit, just spend $40 on a K&N replacement filter and pull out your silencer.
