good deal or not?
I recently sold my '02 mustang this past Saturday. I've found a '86 SVO mustang for sale, an older guy from Fla. has it and is asking $5500...and it's in near perfect shape...garage kept, brand new exhaust, up graded rear axle assembly (5 lug) w/ 17' bullett wheels, crystal clear headlights and coarners, interior is a 8 out of 10 no stains, rips or cracks in the dash.
The engine has about $10k of work with all receipts from a guy in Cali. includes up graded head, cam, intake manifold, fuel system, ignition, up/down pipes, wastegate, block and bottom-end is built for big boost along with beefed up 5speed transmission. The only things not upgraded yet are the turbo and intercooler...but the turbo has no shaft play at all, and he has the stock parts along with stock block also. just curious if anyone else thinks its a good deal to go for.

That is a tough call. That car is really impossible to put a value on it. If you look around, they are probably selling for $1000 to who knows what based on condition etc...
If it is clean and runs well and you place value in the mods, it is probably a great buy. Might not be the best choice for a daily driver, but could be a nice car to hold on to. Especially if yu like something unique. Might be fun to take to shows....these things are pretty rare these days.

Mileage? I dunno man, id shy away from anything with that much substantial work done to it. You dont know who installed it, how well it was installed, tuned, taken care of, I dunno, too much you dont know.

The guy said a shop in Cali did all the engine work, and it was tuned on 8psi to 290's at the wheel. the car it's self has close to 100k miles but the engine is less than 10k and has been garage kept, the underside has hardly any dirt just some normal road grime.
Besides the fact a friend of mine might buy it, i've chosen today to buy an '04 GT i'm picking up friday w/ 17k miles on it.

Thats a good deal for an SVO. BTW they come stock with 5 lugs if he told you that he upgraded to 5 he doesnt know much about them. The most important thing to look out for is that it has all the interior and exterior stock parts. These are the hardest to get. Best year to get is 1985 1/2 only a few hundred made went from recessed headlights to flush. If I were to get another I would keep it 100 percent stock as these cars are becoming more rare each day. Here is a pic of my old SVO which I sold a few years back. I get depressed when I think about her.

Venom, this one looks almost the same just a darker color. the guy just mentioned they were five lug wheels, but the rear brakes are disk, and huge like a cobra or mach1, dunno if that was standard or not. The guy says he has all the stock engine parts, nothing on the body has been changed just very well kept.
