Hum...to blow or not
We all know blowers are fun, but what about cams and heads? You know, old school.
I am gonna do something more serious to this car one way or the other and I think cams and heads would be a blast too.
I fyou have cams and heads on your car, please pipe up. I want to hear from you especially if it is a 99+

Just remember that once you do this it's going to be a permanent N/A car unless you have the money to buy a new motor. I'm debating on the same thing. To get the blower or cams. I'm probably going for VT Stage 2 cams seeing as how I have too many miles on my car for a blower and while I have the cam fun I'll be building a new motor with a roots style blower probably. I guess it's all in who wants what.

I am at 63k.
I also have another unusual situation. If I want to race AND not have a roll gage, I need to stay n/a. With a vert and the new regs, under 13.50 and you need a cage. But, I need to double-check.
See my delemma?

Umm, I'm going for some VT Stage 2 Cams and maybe some Heads if I'm willing to dish out that kind of money. But when I finally get serious about all this stuff and probably after I get out of UTI I'll go for MPH custom built motor and blower combo. My main focus right now is just cams, headers, exterior, and suspension. Just some stuff to keep me busy but mostly stuff that will help eventually with a new motor and blower.

Get heads/cams... cast iron intake mainifold (when it comes out), run 125 shot and there ya go.
I have comp 262's, which are perfect for nitrous, which i plan on doin later on in the life of the car.
:bash: whistlers, lol

Blake, get the blower. End of story. I guess its just cause Im still high on the race gas from dyno day, but hearing that Kenne Bell whine and put down 600 rwhp was enough for me. Now, I dont want anywhere near 600 rwhp, as to me, thats just not fun on the street anymore. BUT, if i were to do it, it would be a KB 1.7 and nothing else. I dunno though, I just want my car payed off this year or maybe a little into next. That is my only goal for the car right now, im tired of paying finance charges...

I'm in the same boat.... I live like 20 mins from Steen Racing, and was really thinkin hard about getting a stage 2+ head port and stage 2 cams. The only problem is that all that would cost $2500 installed and tuned, and would put down a little over 300 rwhp, for a little over a grand more I can get a blower and put down close to 400 with a lot more room to grow, so now I'm just tryin to choose which one to go with!

I have quotes on blower kits...they are around $4,000 with everything. Shops charge about $1000 to install if there is a cooler and then $200 - $300 for a tune.

do both
i bought a set of Steen Racing stage 3 blower purpose ported heads and a set of VT stage 2 blower cams assembled with comp springs. this combo will give me some hp n/a but once i get my blower on it'll be frickin' awesome. i can't wait! neither can my tuner haha.

Pony, I just spoke to Jason at Steen about 2 hrs ago to ask questions and get pricing.
Are you doing headers too? I am not sure which heads/cams I would go with. I guess I should choose a blower setup, but if I never get a blower, then that is not the best option.
If I stay with my nitrous setup, then it really does not matter. While the blower cams/heads would be better for the nitrous, you don't get as much power n/a. For the few times I spray, I wonder if it is worth the loss when n/a.
Jason is saying with my car and headers (they claim the car will make more power with headers due to the new heads) I should get about 310 hp to the wheels. W/o headers, then I am looking at about 290 - 300.
Now, this is what I like, from stop light to stop light, this setup should walk on a car stock GT with a blower. But, the blower car will beat my butt pulling in 4th gear. Seems like the heads/cams might be a real fun setup for around town and still fun on the Interstate.
Jason also claims that my car would be very capable of mid to low 12's and he has customers running a lot faster then that with the right suspension and tires.
