Default Is Nitrous Cheating???

I was watching a documentary on A&E last night called "Need for Speed, Underground World of Street Racing" and it basically profiled these kids with imports that would street race and how the cops are always trying to catch them.

Anyway, on one part of the show they went to a NHRA track so they could run the 1/4 and one of the guys had taken out his nitrous bottle cause he wanted to see what his car could do without it. Although he took it out the NHRA track official insisted that he put a mark on the car stating it had nitrous, which the kid didn't want.

They started arguing and the NHRA guy in the midst of the argument said he thinks nitrous is cheating.

Do any of you think Nitrous is cheating? I have mixed feelings about it, but I just wanted to get your opinions.

Whoever thinks using nitrous is cheating is a fawking moron. However these sort of comments usually come from guys who have a different type of PA..i.e. charger, turbo and such. If a car has a supercharger is he cheating.....in conclusion, nitrous is not cheating and if you think otherwise you're a moron...

It injects oxygen in (n2o), which is the same concept that superchargers use. So if nitrous is cheating, so is a supercharger. Plain and simple as that...

Nitrous is definitely NOT cheating. And even if it is, who cares!? It's like this: If you're not cheating, you're not trying hard enough!

ha ha...that's funny dude. I would say even though the supercharger/turbo and nitrous are somewhat the same concept..... the supercharger/turbo provides power all the time without having "flip a switch". Does flipping a switch make it cheating....probably not, but I would much rather have a power source that is constant rather than having to flip a switch.

I'm not saying it's cheating at all, just saying me personally I would rather have a constant power source that I can use from stop light to stop light.

Like stated, its not, and usually the ones who are doing the complaining are the ones who didnt bring the bottle to help them along...or the ones who spent 5k on a blower and still get beat by a guy with maybe 1k in a nitrous setup.

Exactly!!

There is alway's people who make an excuse to why they lost.Just tell them your spraying and see if they back out or not. Most of them will think they can still beat you even though they probally can't.But it takes the "cheating"
excuse away because they knew it before you raced.

Every other weekend I get asked by a damn stock civic or some pos car that's slow as ***** but has nitrous on it for this weekend only to race. I always say no. Not because I think it's cheating but because I wouldn't want to risk my life to get in a car going god knows how fast and have no clue how or who hooked up this stuff to their car or even how their car is going to react to the stuff. Now on the track it's a completely different story. It makes perfect sense, cuz most people who use it there already have a built car and they're just wanting to push their car a little further and get a lower time.

Nitrous is only cheating if you hide-it and race and say you don't have it.

But when a Civic pulls a 15.1 instead of a 17.8, you kinda know something is up - LOL

ok depending on what kind of racing, or rules aplied, and what kind of class your running, and at what track. Its not cheating if its street racing, but at a track its different. i dont know, NOPI or what ever they want to call them selves might have different rules. I mean it shouldnt matter with ET bracket racing, but head to head racing usualy has classes, and I think they look at nitros as a power adder.
