Looks good but what's the point? You buy a jeep to go off road, + 39,999 starting?

the lightning is fast and is still practical.. you can still tow a boat with it and haul just as much weight as a normal f150 but you do it a little faster.. i'd love to see someone take that jeep offroad..

I read a article on the SRT Jeep the other day. At the end of it, they said the offroad capabilites are pretty much gone. I think its kind of odd to make a Jeep a hotrod strictly for the street. Someone will buy it Im sure, I just won't be one of em.

I think it's awesome! They make about every kind of vehicle in a sport model, (HD F-150, trailblazer ss, silverado ss, tahoe ss, etc...) and none of them serve a purpose, except for wasteing gas. People don't buy Jeep Cherokee's(the newer ones) to do crazy muddin(I know because I have one) if they wanted to do that they would of got a wrangler. I think it's great that you can get in a stock srt-8 and beat most of the newer sports cars on the market(and almost any other truck/suv)

Another thing the gas milage is horrible i know a stock version gets horrible mileage. Now you can cut that in half.

Most people who buy SUVs nowadays don't take them offroad. Hell they barely use them in any kind of conditions that require 4wd. Most of the people that buy SUVs or at least drive them are women with kids (yup soccer moms). The primary reason I think this is the case is that their macho (or at least wanna be macho) husbands don't want to be caught dead driving a minivan. So this kinda makes sense if you are trying to get the macho husband into a 4 door vehicle why not make it bad ***. Plus it beats the hell out of an Escalade (I hate those things).

A 4wd V8 Limited Explorer starts at over 36K and it only has 300hp.

A 4wd V8 Trail Blazer starts at over 35K and thats not the SS version.

I would say that 39,999 isnt that bad for a Porshce Cayenne, Infiniti FX, etc killing SUV that costs half the price.

You got to hand it to Chrysler, they seem to be the only company that can market worth a crap these days. They have really hit pay-dirt with the whole Hemi thing.

Fast Jeep...why the hell not. I would take one. BTW, you can't tow with it either. Where the hell would the hitch go?

And to re-affirm, most truck owners never even use 4xD. Take a look at all the 2X4 trucks sold in Ca. These things will sell!

Chrysler is so hot right now, they can not keep up with production demands for the Magnum/300 etc... In fact, I just read that they are perhaps going to start production of these cars at another plant. Soem of the new modles are likely to be delayed.

I ordered a Magnum from the factory in October and it is now not scheduled to arrive until July. It's a company car, so they make 'em when they have time.
