Default 2 Questions

1) I bought that duplicolor caliper paint kit, and it says that you should take off all four tires and do it. The problem is I dont have any sort of lift, just a few jacks. so i was wondering how other people did theirs. One at a time?

2) I was talking to my uncle about the rims i bought and he was asking me if the speedometer is off now. I told him i didnt think so and he said that because the rims were bigger that the stock, that it should be. is that true? do i need to do something about this?

thanks

So long as you kept the same tire height as your stock tires and rims you should be fine. No speedo correction is needed.

As far as the caliper paint, you would have to jack up one wheel at a time to get to each caliper.

Go buy a set of four jackstands, they arent too expensive, and will let you get the car all the way off the ground for the caliper paint.

Any serious gear head should HAVE 4 dam jack stands!

(BTW, I have to go to Pepboys and get mine still)

when i did my calipers on my old v6 i did one at a time, it took about an hour a side. Make sure each side is 100% dry before applying other coats. As for your rims, i think if you got 17" rims your outter tire diameter would not be off enough to mess the speedo up but if they are 18s it most likely did. The pics look like you have 17s however and the tires look about right, so i wouldnt worry about it if thats the case.

I know you say its not worth buying four jackstands to paint the calipers, but its not just calipers, its springs, exhaust, gears, tires, should I go on. Like someone said, they are just helpful to have around. Just buy some, they arent that expensive.
