The UN absolutly MUST back up every demand it makes, the weapons inspectors were there for a reason, and the UN constantly allowed saddam to dodge the weapons inspectors. Right there weakens the UN and revokes any credibility it has. The UN is there for a reason, if it wont back up the demands it makes then what is the point of it existing? Why would anyone else do as they are instructed?

Imagine a police force that just lets you get away with everything. What is going to stop people from killing and selling meth? There must be enforcment and the UN was too chicken to do it, so we did. In the long run it had to be done. Saddam has nobody to blame but himself, if he would have cooperated none of this would have happened.
Yep I think that 1 of the things Iraq had to comply to according to the 1st gulf war surrender was to adhere to the UN in inspecting the weapons facilities in Iraq. Well good ole Saddam reniged on that deal. That should have been enough to go bust his *** but, Our fine Prez at the time Clinton didn't follow through with protocol that would have put the US back in Irag at full bear, after only 1 or 2 years since we went to bust their *** the 1st time. Saddaam should have went down the 1st time. he should have went down the 2nd time after he refused the UN inspectors. So now we waited to long to set this country on the right track. The insurgency has festered too long and it is now like an ingrown toenail. Gonna be very hard and painful to dig out. Sadaam is probably gonna hang for his mass murders but the insurgents will never quit. IMHO.............
