Now that the 05 GT has begun its Launch. I am curious to see how many of us LIKE it ..or DONT like it....
Of coarse it has more POWER..but do you like the way it looks over the 99-04 Body Style????

Many argue that Ford should have moved foward with the mustang styling making it more "futuristic:..While Others Like the throw-back good ol' Shelby Look.

i prefer the 99-04... but i'm sure the 05+ will grow on me...

when the 99's first came out i didn't really like them, but now i own a '03 GT!

Well, it's more more lika a draw with me. Because of it's great looks I went to see about trading my 2000 in on one. But I absolutely hated the interior. It swayed me enough to be happy that I own the car I have.

 

I'm with you, I hate the inside; the outside looks good, but the wheels suck, and I don't know what size tires they have, but they arn't wide enough.

 

Yeah, i'd have to say 99-04. It may be me but don't the 05's look alittle on the big side? Also, the interior just doesn't have the same feel as with the 99-04's.

 

I think the 99 - 04 has the best styling we've seen. That isn't to say there aren't some really great looking Stangs out there, but the former style is my favorite. With that said, the 05 looks very good and is creating a lot nostalgia sales for the Mustang hobby. From a sales standpoint, I think it is great since there is no competition in its market with the GM cars going away. This is the time to take chances.

I'd buy a 99 - 04 again........well, until the next Cobra comes out as I feel that is going to be the best looking stang built. This is a tough body style to modify and still look good. The only styling changes out there now I like are all by Ford (boy racer, GTR, etc...) and Saleen is a distant second.

I have to vote for the 99 - 04 body style. The 2005 just doesn't look mean enough. The headlights look like they were taken from a precious moments figurine. It looks like the car is sad, instead of "MEAN". The rear is kind of plain looking. I think Ford will modify the "look" of the car during the next 5 or 6 years to make it more aggressive looking. They will tweek the inside too!

Ray, dead on. Not aggressive enough and I totally agree with you about the rear of the car as well. Like in 94, Ford has something up their sleeve that will make it more aggressive as its lifecycle progresses. One has to think with the mean look of the GTR, they will come through in 4/6 years from now.

 

no love for our bodystyle? lol, my fav... but yeah, it seems they always hold out for 2 years before they change anything, like our tail lights, and more apparent the changed in 01...

 

The interior in the 05 looks like its out of a work truck. The rest of the car lacks any real style. Don't think there is really anything special about it other than it says mustang on it. I realize too that they had to cut corners to keep cost down but I think they cut too many. Granite the concept car was all done up to make a nice show car, I wish they would have just put some better looking wheels on it and made it the production car. I probably would have seriously considered trading my 01 GT in on one. After sitting in a 05 and then sitting my 01, I have no need to ever sit in another 05 again.

 

I bought an 04 because I liked the styling better. I do like the 05 a lot too, but they are too plain, I think the hood need a scoop, or at least a bulge in the middle. The wheels on the 05 are what sucks the most though, they are awfull!!!!

 

Imma swing the other way. there is one thign I loath about the 99-04, fake.
Even the 94-98 had more practical flares then the 99-04, to me te 99-04 is just a cover car

I don't think many young audiences will accept the 05, it's retro and they are too used to the current model which is more flshy than mustang

I however can't past judgement on the numbers. the engines are still untested a lot of bugs to figure out witht he 05 yet, but that's with all new cars. I do like the power in crease. they are bigger but by only withing 100 lbs so not really heavier, and they make up for it in power waiting for 06 model. 3.5 260 hp v6 and a 32 valve V8. ( plus the v tec is nice much more sophisticated v8.

Im going with true mustang flares, strong chassis, reliable, ford born 05 mustang, can't beat it. I love my model the best though

 

I have seen them run at the track and got up close and personal. I don't hate them but the version from the Detroit auto show was much better. They will tweak it the next few years. The v6 looks better than the GT and yeah those wheels suck.

 

i agree... i think i like the v6 better than the gt...

yeah i would have to say the 99-04's look more bad ***. The 05's look to elegant for me like you have to be in your 50's to drive one. I still like them but just not as much.

 

Hopefully the Cobra looks meaner than the current 2 models.

 

I dont like the bullitt rims on the 05. They look too "cartoonish" with being rounded off. Stick the other bullitts on there and it would look a lot better.

 

People say that when a new car body comes out people dont like it usually..because they are simply not use to it, but then start to like it after getting use to the change.......Unfortunatley..I am 100% sure i will NEVER own the 05 mustang body style as its not my style. call me young.

 

Personally, Im kind of torn between the 2. Im not sure which style I like better.

As much as I loved the 94 GT I had for a minute... It took me a while for the 99+ styling to grow on me... I was all set to get an '03 GT or Mach 1 until I heard they were redesignig 'em... Now I'm glad I waited... I always liked the 68-70 Mustang styling the most, I think Ford did a good job on the '05s -enough infact to covert this bowtie fan to an oval :thumbsup:

 

I vote for the 99-04, but the 05 might grow on me. After reading the MM&FF article that put the 05 running 12's with a tune and some bolt ons makes me like them just a little more.

I pulled up next to an 05 the other day and it looks huge! What is the weight difference between the 05 and 99-04?

 

I dont get it, people complain about the fake hood scoop and then complain when the new one doenst have them.

Interior out of a work truck??? Ive never seen a work truck with leather and the pretty descent build quality for a Ford.

The suspension, shifting position, engine, materials, quality control, and pretty much everything are better than the 99-04s.

I like the exterior looks of the 99-04 better, but the interior and the rest of the car in the 05 is light years ahead of any other stang. Lets just hope the leather doesnt crack and crease as easily as the previous models.

I call it a draw due to the 04s being significantly cheaper with rebates and discounts, but at the same price I would be rolling an 05 no question about it.

And when the 06 GT Convertibles come out I will be switching no doubt about it.

 

haveing owned both now i can say that i really like the 05 better in looks and performance, the 05 has a large plane hood, that i am about to fix but other than that it looks good to me, it is a little bigger but that means more ROOM! i love the thing to death!

 

if u like doing exterior mods to your stnag like i do its better to have a 99-04 with the older body style of the 05 if u change to much it would look real bad i have to say the the saleen does look real hot on the 05 though

the 05 is more sleeper like the 99-04 is the one that u can put body kits on and any exterior mod u want and can still look good

 

I really like the retro look..even though the new car is a much larger car than the one that the '05 imitates the styling of. I like the look of my '03, but the new one is a better looking car.

your young! I'm old,I like the new mustang because of its retro styling,but there are some interior pieces that look like they came out of a 04 F-150. I do like the optional red leather interior and the slightly more interior room. The general public seems to all love the new mustang and anybody that has driven it will tell you it is a giant leap forward in quality,I won't be suprised if it is called the car of the year. Don't get me wrong, I do love my 01 convert and There is hardly any mustangs that I haven't liked. Some day I hope to own a 05 or newer but I won't rush out and trade my current one in for awhile.

 

dont trade it in at all ever but if u do waitto get like the newcobra that will come out in say 2 yrs
