WRecked Saleen, great for restore?
Hey guys i found this on ebay, it looks like a 2001 saleen that has been in an accident, its going for only $4,500. For some of you guys that have that mineral grey color this would be a good car to swap parts from and repair it.
Anyone els think this would be a good car to buy to get parts from?
(I didn't post this in classifieds because im not selling it, just something i found that we can discuss about)

I dunno, doubt the engine can be salvaged, the iompact probably either twisted or fractured the frame. personally i think that car is DOA
Notice the spare on the front right? im sure they diddnt put that on after the crash, i wonder if the driver decided to race while riding on the spare.

Im not saying to maybe restore that one, but lets say you have a stang that color, you can get it and make your stang into a nice saleen rep if that is a real saleen. Parts that can prolly be used: Side skirts, rear bumper, spoiler, C-Pillars, side scoops, doors, Shifter, Seats, and a couple of authentic saleen parts.
After looking at it a lot closer i dont think its a real saleen, Notice the GT wheels, the front "Saleen" windshield decal is missing, dont look like saleen seats...

is that a saleen Vin?
any saleen owners out there care to comment?
He is right about the GT wheels too. Probably a replica.
Hell, look at the side mirrors, they are not even painted, i know the 04 4oth's came painted, so do cobra's and mach 1's. do the saleens have painted side mirrors?
As far as no Saleen on the windshield, it is not a stock windshield, it has that blue tint across the top, no pony where the rearview used to be.
i bet 50 bucks that aint even a real saleen.

I work at a bodyshop and I'am trying to open my own company soon but by the looks of the stang the engine is crap and will need to be replaced the tranny is cracked/broken if anything. That thing will end up costing you more money to fix up then buying a used 2001 stang from autotrader.

Salleen or not
Whether its a true Salleen or not (and this is doubtful), everything in front of the firewall looks totaled. If motor is rebuildable, it would be a stroke of luck.
Unibody damage is high. Notice how the front end has cracked clean through (the v-shaped gap over the fender well). This was not a low speed (under 25mph) hit, but one that was at least 45mph.
Assuming this is a GT, it's worth only about $10 - 11,000 in good condition.
It would take at least $10,000 worth of parts and labor to get it road worthy - hence its totaled status.
Purchase of this car makes sense only if you need the parts to complete a car with rear end damage (rear clip looks intact), or if you have access to a nice front clip which you can combine with this car to make one useable vehicle.
It its a real Salleen and the motor is ok, the price is cheap.
Otherwise, its a decent price for the rear clip - if you need a rear clip.
