Well just like the title saids, especially the 99-04 owners, did you guys get a little "jealous" when you started seeing the 05s on the streets? Because it kindof pisses me off when someone tells me "Nice stang, but you should of got an 05". I feel a bit "outdated" and makes me want to trade in my stang for an 05. Because now a days even if you have like a 99-04 saleen, its not the same as if you see an 05 saleen next to you, makes you not feel like the nicest stang on the streets

Doesnt bother me, but maybe thats cause 3 different stangs are in my garage
98 gt
04 v6
05 gt
It all depends on your preference, some people (alot on this site) dont like the 05 style that much, and I think the 99-04 is the best mustang to date.

In all reality, besides being newer, they have nothing on us 99-04 style. As it stands now, 99-04's have WAY more aftermarket parts and also, since the 05 is a retro design, there are only certain body kits/styles you can give it without making it look retarded. The 99-04's give more room for variety. Also, even though it has 300 hp. Thats only 40 hp more AND they weigh a little more(I think) so a few mods to the earlier gt's and you've matched it in performance.

Personally, I love the O5's. But I also like the older ones. To me it is purely financial...I see no point in dropping $30k on a stang when you can get a really nice used one for 15k....and more fun modding it.
To each there own, but the "new school" stang owners are a bit anoying at times. Some of them (who never owned a stang before ) have that "My Stang is better than yours attitude". Soon, though, theirs will have miles on them too.
Some of you don't like the way it looks. To me, I think they nailed it. I, for one, am glad Ford has decided to stay int he game with the stang and has not deserted us like GM did to the F-Body.
Will I buy one? For those that know me, I am the kind of person that might say "nay" one day, then drive down to a dealer the next and take one home. I did see a black GT vert with red stripes and the red interior...black bullets too on the road that made me think twice. But as long as dealers are getting a premium, you won't find me behind the wheel.
When they are 4k under sticker, then I start thinking about it.
I also have a lot of fun with '05 owners. My car, to the untrained eye, is pretty impressive looking. Black GT Vert, 315's in the back, a loud-**** exhaust, and a Rousch body kit. While not a stunner on the boards, it is a stand-out on the roads. When I pull up next to an '05, my car looks and sounds every bit as capable as running 11's, so they leave me alone. While in truth, my 13.6 ish mustang is no faster than theirs. PLUS you have to add the .4 seconds to their cars because of the "I too scared to drive it cuz I owe $30k" factor.

4k under sticker...
I had a Yellow 05 GT Vert at my Local Dealership. 33k for the car alone, add up other fees and so forth it gets you to around 34k.
Adjust for current market value...
$38,700. Almost 5k more than what the car is being sold for. Waste of money if you ask me. If I wanted a 38 thousand dollar car, i would have bought a 03/04 Cobra, and then had money to mod with.

The 05's have started to grow on me, but I think a lot of people who are buying them are first time mustang owners, and haven't got the full appreciation of all mustangs yet. I mean, If I pull up to a nice stang no matter what year I'll give them the thumbs up or say "nice car" or something, and I haven't seen too many 05 owners doing that around where I live. Usually they try to speed off like their car is faster than mine cause it's not the "new style".
Oh well, I'll just continue to tell them they have a nice car and go on my way.

In fact, I am sure that Ford has the entire marketing plan laid-out. As V-6 sales slowdown, watch for things like Pony Packages (oops, we are there now) and an nastaglia limited-edition later in the modle year. This will be a supper-stripper similiar to the original '65's and will probably cost much less that current V-6's. Keep in mind that there is also a low-end market for Ford too.
As GT sales peak and begin to slow, we will surely see the release of Mach I's and Boss Mustangs. I also estimate a GT350 after the GT500 is realeased. This might be a $35K car that looks just like the GT500 minus the blower.
Ford's dream is to get the guy from buying the BMW to but GT then in 2-3 years scoop up a Boss. The the used GT hits the market for a new audience etc....
For me, it's hard to say if a new stang will ever be in the picture as I have plans to buy a hybrid as soon as my 2002 Suburban is left with no payment. That would put 4 cars in my driveway as I need to keep the truck.
With some estimating gas prices hitting $4/gal by next summer, there is no telling what some of us will be doing.

The 05's are way better cars than ours, better ride, interior, power etc. But that doesn't make me jealous of them. I love my car and as Blake said I am not going to pay a premium to own one. Besides Ford is planning on a Mach, Bullitt and Boss versions in the next couple of years. I am waiting to get one that has a little my ***** than the current GT before I buy one. I have not noticed any particular attitude by 05 drivers so far but I will have a nice surprise for any who line up against me at the track. By this fall I'll be running 12.5's n/a and mid 11's on the juice so they can enjoy getting dusted off the track by a old guy in a "old" Stang.

05 Sales were really not that impressive
I like the 05's OK, though I think the show car is what should have been the final result. Had that happened, I'd own one right now.
192,000 Mustangs sold in 2005 (keep in mind, this number is usually computed to include "sold but not delievered" GT orders that Ford has been sitting on for upwards of 6 months or more) is not really that impressive for the introduction of a new car. It was an increase over the 04 models, but not really any better sales than they had back in 2000, I believe.
Ford sold over 900,000 F150 series trucks - THATS a lot of vehicles!
As for 05 owners pissing me off - few have, so far, and I can only hope that those few grow up a little. The best analogy I can think of is the long-standing situation with the 96-98 4.6's and their weak motors and fragile intakes. Every day one of these guys comes on this and other forums and is greeted with friendly, even caring advice to fix his car or upgrade to the 99-newer specs that our cars have. The reaction is not "Ha! Another loser who bought a bad year Mustang!".
05 owners with ego problems should pay heed - their fellow 05 guys will tire of such juvenile behavior fast, and they'll find themselves ostrasized from what should become our fastest growing Mustang enthusiast group.
Bad manners is always a bad idea.

Alot of the 05 owners do seem to be a little stuck up on there newer Mustangs.I take that as that they just bought the 05 so that they just had the new hot thing and not real Mustang fans.
I agree that they are very nice and I love driving my wifes 06.But my 03 still draws attention all the time.
I have noticed that it's not only the 05 owners with the attitude, alot of the guys I wave at on a regular basis when I'm driving my 03 do not wave when I'm driving the wifes 06.
The new body style has changed alot of peoples mind on owning a Mustang. My wife for one never thought of owning one untill she finally drove one and saw how much better they rode than my Stang.

As far as Ford F-150 sales, I think Fords biggest fear is that number dropping from 900,000 to 90,000 is something is not done about gas prices.

Absolutely
I think you're right about 2000 sales - somewhere in that range, anyway.
You're also right about the GTO - it was a big mistake for GM - the old F body guys essentially boycotted GM for dropping their Firebirds and Camaros. A little tweaking with the body (particularly nose and side profile), keep the F-bodies with minor evolutionary updates, and the GTO sells 10 times the numbers as a member of a GM pony-car lineup.
No lineup, **** off all your loyal followers, and you sell 7800 cars.
Don't get me wrong - I think Ford has enjoyed a huge media success from the 05 stangs. Its that rare find - a "Halo" model that casts a warm and fuzzy glow over the whole company. With it, Ford only plans to layoff 20,000 workers, close 4 US factories and 1 in Canada, saw their stock drop below $10 a share, and saw their credit rating drop to junk bond status. WITHOUT the 05 Mustang, Ford would be a lot worse off...
If they play their cards right and don't get greedy with the new GT500 (which I actually lust after, and plan to buy if I can get it near MSRP), the halo could persist another year or so, particularly if they run the Romeo engine plant more than 1 shift; make enough 8.8" rears; and serve up the GT, Mach 1 and maybe even Boss lineup that the Ford faithful will buy in droves (but not at 30% over MSRP).
However, if they do offer a full lineup of Mustang models, the S 197 owners will probably become more intolerable than they already are...

just my opinion
I`ve worked for a ford dealers for about 20 years or so and have had the privilege to drive mustangs for a long time now. I can remember test driving some 76 cobra ll back in the day and saying to myself that they stuff too much engine into a light weight chassis. I especially remember taking a new 84 mustang svo on one of the best rides i can remember. I really liked the fox bodied mustangs but thought they ruined it after 94 with the new style then. From 99 after tweaking the body they improved vastly. I always loved the tough look of a 2003 mach 1 and enjoyed immensely pounding the throttle watching that shaker assy tilt to the side and feeling the torque trying to glue you to the seat. But i will say that for the 05 mustang, ford did good. Starting from the ground up and totally redesigning a whole new car. Finally a seating arrangement that i can get totally comfortable in. The v6 does look rather weak but the gt is just damn badass. Like all the other mustangs before it it will never be mistaken for any other car and that`s one of the things i have always enjoyed about the mustangs. I do envy you 99 to 04 owners due to the fact that i just have a 90 gt convert. It`s just my opinion that the 05 mustang gt is the best yet and i`m glad that ford never abandoned their little pony like gm has. lastly, ford dealers wouldn`t get over msrp if there weren`t so damn many dumbas$% willing to pay it. Long live the mustang gt.

No, I do like the 05's. I even saw a sexy blue ROUSH last night but the one time a guy in an 05 GT ragtop told me that "Should have gotten an 05" I asked him if he wanted to line-em up. I got no respone and rolled up his window. I didn't like the fact that I punked a fellow stang owner but don't be a dick. I like em all from the fox's to the 05 retro's.
