Thursday I purchased my first handgun. Decided on a Glock 23. After checking out a few places found the right place and got a good deal. Brand new for $499. Get to pick it up in a week.

 

A great gun at a great price, you can't go wrong there. Now if you don't already have it get your carry permit.

Nice choice. Cant go wrong with a 23. And good luck with the permit thing. It depends on the county you live in... As you prob already know, some give it, most do not.

 

Yeah, I'm in California so no go on the carry permit. I don't live in the middle of nowhere either so I don't see that happening, plus I doubt the wife would appreciate it. Was already a pain talking her into me getting one, but never the less, got it and can't wait to pick it up.

My step mom is going to try and get a carry permit though. She might have better luck since she's a tech for the sheriffs department. Maybe I could have an in there.

 

Well I picked it up yesterday. While I was waiting for the guy to finish doing whatever he was doing, I had the great pleasure of trying to talk to some mexican guy about guns. He was there getting a scope for his rifle and I had no idea what he was saying to me. Luckily there were 2 hot chicks working there to distract me. Anyways, going out this Friday with my wife and dad and doing some shooting. Should be fun.

If you have a gun permit can you carry in another state?

 

Depends. California does not have reciprocity agreements with ANY other state. If you get a Utah non-resident permit you can carry in (IIRC) 30 states as they all have reciprocity agreements in place.

So, to answer your question it's easiest to google "what states have CCW reciprocity with <insert your state here>". Then come back and talk to me about it and I'll help you wade through the PITA legalities.

 

I can carry in 34 states other than the state my carry license is issued (Florida). All states are going to vary so you will have to do your homework first.

 

As of yesterday I have both the big and little brother of the G23.
