Take a warrior hunting!

The mission is to form a database of outdoorsmen who are willing to take military members & veterans (especially wounded ones) out hunting, fishing, etc...
Please check out the mission statement & forum, & see if you can help out. I've joined up. If you hunt, especially if you own your hunting grounds then you should be signed up.
<personal comments>
Something about taking returning soldiers and redirecting the built up killer instinct they develop in combat areas and pointing it back to the natural and normal hunt for food seems totally logical to me. We can be trained to hunt people but it never sits right with any but a particular breed of soldier to do so. They need to be normalized.

It's just a bunch of hunters and outdoorsmen trying to thank our vets. There is an emphasis on doing hunts and such for veterans of foreign wars and especially for those wounded in the service but it's for all vets.
Some guides/outfitters donate a hunt here and there but mostly this is joe blow and public land and an opportunity for a vet to get some field time where the quarry doesn't shoot back.
Species is totally open. Anything from dik-dik to dinosaurs.

Laws in most African countries about what calibers you can use to hunt plains game are kinda funny. It ends up in some places that if you want a little thing like impala/gazelle/dik-dik that you have to shoot them with something tremendously large like a .375 H&H because they're plains game, and so are lions.
You'd never see that in the U.S.. Our government would never tell you to "bring enough gun". **** they'd rather you not bring one at all.
Did you hear about the latest retarded **** the EPA is considering? Banning lead from all "sporting" uses. Read, no lead bullets of any kind for hunting and no lead fishing weights or anchors or anything. If it's liable to be left in the environment or dunked in the water, can't be lead. Granted this is still only under consideration but it's just the sort of super kneejerk bullshit that the Feds would rubber stamp under the auspices of environmentalism.

SO that would just be another way for us to pay for more exspensive ammo...me thinks..Such ****, what else they gunna make ammo out of? ****** steel rounds? Hey bob, do me a favor, shoot that deer there will ya? Sure! And watch as any bullet flys right damn through...Im sure theyd use something but im just giving an example lol. And why the HELL would oyu bring a .357 to shoot a dikdik?!?! Blow the poor little thing in half! Gazelle anything over a 30-6 is overkill. I would know more than most people considering we own 8 black buck gazelle and 3 axis deer. And fishing without lead is gunna suck, good luck putting wieghts on your lines without a damn vice.

Unless someone can die in the process there's not the same level of excitement hunting with paintball guns. If I bump the velocity up to 950fps and freeze the paintballs then it becomes acceptably lethal. Still game?

and deathdiesel is closer to correct. The sentiment is from the book "The Most Dangerous Game". A fabulous book I hope to be fortunate enough to mimic IRL some day. I haven't decided if I'd play the protagonist or the antagonist or a disinterested party.

Screw it, just swap the paintballs out for ball bearings. Call it done.

But seriously you can't tell me that you wouldn't have just a little bit of fun trying to track a random stranger down and snipe them knowing that the end result will not be legal action of any form and they will probably buy you a beer and laugh about it (unless you hit me in the face..... or the nuts)

I've done paintball, it's insanely fun for a while. It's not nearly as fun as say... combat training with simunitions (there's an element of realism in the weapons that ups the stakes) but it'll give some giggles. There's a whole different kind of very different fun when the game is fighting for its life and is smart enough to put up a clever fight and perhaps even kill the hunter. The hunter is also the hunted. Something almost masochistic in the sadism.

Honestly if i had the chance to kill some random person, do the hunting type **** to em. I would. Hell let him be a multiple convicted felon, ill be doing the country a favor. Im betting i have enough open field to catch him in the open once

PTSD is the reason we're taking these guys out. You know what combat veterans do more than anything when an episode brought on by PTSD hits? They wad up into a ball on the ground and cry. They're not usually the least bit dangerous. They're hurt. We're trying to make gunfire not a cause to seek cover or to have vivid memories of people dying next to you. We'd really rather the gunfire sound be returned to something joyous, an omen of impending lunch instead of an omen of inbound whistling death.
Remember guys, these are people that at some point in their life wrote a check payable to the people of the United States and by extension of the world, in the amount of "up to and including my life" and then didn't put a date on the check. They got what they signed up for and now we need to properly bring them back into the fold of American daily life.
