I don't know if it was great defense because he actually looked like he wanted the ref to stop if for a second.

SnTBakosFinest 07-05-2010 05:53 AM

I'm not a Lesnar fan..by any means.. but.. the guy did defend himself, even kicked Carwin off once or twice..had his hands over his head intelligently ...yea..he caught some fists, and some elbows...that's ground and pound.

I actually respect the guy a little more now..he fought a legit fighter, took the punches (granted, a few of them weren't dead on, and if they were it would've been lights out) but he took them, he was on the defensive, he survived, and, he went to his roots, but, he didn't something I didn't expect, he SUBMITTED someone. Very suprising, IMO.

I was impressed by the comments made after the fight from him.. I do expect to see Carwin vs. Lesnar II, and I do believe Carwin will win the next time..

The guy gassed himself.. he'd never been out of the first round, hopefully, he'll train for 5 rounds next time. If he would've been in better shape for the extra rounds, he may have won it early in the second.

j_gutta870 07-05-2010 09:12 AM

Lesnar himself said that he didn't know where he was for a while when he was on the floor...

He did win the fight but I don't like him anymore...

Don't let me down Cain Velasquez

j_gutta870 07-05-2010 09:24 AM

I also think Carwin exposed a weakness in Brock. Brock is like a fish out of water when someone pressures him with punches. He had no idea what in the hell to do.

zigzagg321 07-05-2010 12:08 PM

Lesnar is a shit talking, no technique, no skill having bitch. He doesnt deserve to fight in the UFC until he earns a belt or ranking in some sort of martial art.

Why? When did Randy Couture have a ranking in a martial art? When did Chuck Lidell? Matt Hughs? List can continue...

The guys were (for the most part) wrestlers and fairly decent boxers.. not Abu Dabi jiu jitsu champs or 3rd degree blackbelts in anything...

We've seen it clearly doesn't take a black belt in a martial art to be successful in this sport. Not going to say it doesn't help you.

I don't agree how Lesnar fought...2-3 fights as a up and coming fighter, and was thrown into title contention like that..but it was a good marketing tactic, let's face it, the UFC is a business, they don't care who should RIGHTFULLY get shots, as much as they care about making money.

Dan Henderson as an example. Should have been Henderson vs Silva II, but, nope.

Another example: Shane Carwin wins 12 fights straight, in dominant fashion, and wasn't given the opportunity until now.

NewMustangMan 07-06-2010 08:02 AM

Man all the fights on the card were great! I have to watch it again!

zigzagg321 07-06-2010 09:15 AM

I hate the way lesnar fights...thats why. At least the other dudes without belts are fun to watch.

NewMustangMan 07-06-2010 09:28 AM

I really thought the fight was over when Carwin had knocked him down, but i think it was a good non stoppage. i wish Carwin had won though

Badfish 10-20-2010 09:46 PM

Alllright..Brock Lesnar is defending his title again. This time against a formidable Cain Valasquez.

Cain is a great fighter with incredible heart and unmatched endurance.

but.

Brock Lesnar, IMO, is looking astounding. He looks like a machine. Obviously in the best shape of his career and now with more experience and more endurance.

As cool as it would be for Cain to win this fight, I wouldn't bet against Brock.

Thoughts?

SnTBakosFinest 10-20-2010 11:10 PM

Hope Brock crushes the dudes head. I don't like Brock but this "brown pride" and main focus on being mexican and shit instead of focusing on his abilities etc is lame.

Also...took Cain a decision to beat Kongo....really?

I see this fight ending in the 3rd. Brock winning.

Badfish 10-20-2010 11:14 PM

I agree that this whole "FIRST MESSICAN TO BE CHAMOPIN EVAR? OMG" is a retarded marketing technique. But no need to blame the fighter. He gives the impression of a great guy, family man, and a guy who trains his ass of for what is going to be the fight of his life. Unfortunately..Brock is just looking too good. I give Brock the TKO in round 2.

Badfish 10-24-2010 07:05 PM

Did anyone catch the fight?

What a shocker.

zigzagg321 10-24-2010 08:49 PM

finally the overgown fake ass pro wrestler got whats been coming to him. Brock needs more striking training... his stupid kitty slaps while hes laying on the other guy piss me off.

TUFF 4.6 10-25-2010 04:43 AM

Did someone order an ass whippin, cause taco bell brought him one!

BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

foncarelli 10-26-2010 05:06 PM

A lot of people predicted Brock was gonna lose.

NeedACobra 10-28-2010 09:54 PM

Ive always said that if anyone could beat brock..it would be either Carwin or Cain. Thats why I laugh at incompetent rednecks who put brocks pussy on a pedestal, because they loved him in the WWE. It was only a matter of time before a real fighter got ahold of him. Cain will hold that belt way longer than Brock did, and Carwin will probably take it from him, if he gets his fucking cardio straightened out, but then again, when you smash a guys face in for an entire round, I guess you would get tired. I hate brock lesnar.

Rampage beats Machida via split decision. Pretty boring fight as are most of Machidas. but a good match up none the less. Both fought hard..a little too much clinching IMO but they duked it out a few times. Questionable victory of Rampage, but he put the pressure on, and pushed the pace the first two rounds, so i think I'd give it to him too.

now..Penn/Hughes! BJ comes out with a flurry of punches knocking Matt Hughes out in 21 seconds. definitely did not see that one coming. I expected more of a battle but, damn! what a win by Penn

I didnt actually watch the fights, but I was tracking them online, and pretty much everyone gave Rampage the first 2 rounds, and Machida Gayoto the third. Im guessing rampage started getting tired. Oh well. Im just glad that Rampage won. I cannot stand Machida, and his "fight for points" style. I mean...if you're fighting for points, go fight in a fucking karate tournament, with pads, and all that gay shit.

As for Penn, and Hughes, I pretty much said that if BJ won, it would be by a tko. I just didnt think it would happen THAT fast, though. Hughes striking abilities are almost non-existent, on account of being 98% grappler, and 2% striker, where as most fighters try to balance that out a little more. Oh well, Im happy. I hate matt hughes, too.

SnTBakosFinest 11-22-2010 01:46 AM

Machida/Rampage was interesting. Rampage attempted to push the pace, but not as much as he may have another fighter. Machidas goal is to get you to push forward, and hope to get that good shot in for a KO.

The guy does NOT push the pace, he is a counter striker. A close fight, and I can see why it went to Rampage. If Machida wants to be a threat at the championship level, he is going to have to change something I think. With Shogun basically demolishing him in the second fight, and Rampage simply being the aggressor, other fighters are going to develop the game plan to be careful, but push the pace just enough to win the fight against him.

The Penn/Hughs fight is what I was extremely suprised by.

Hughes not having any stand up etc is a bit absurd. It isn't like the guy hasn't been punched in the head a few times or doesn't throw punches ever. With a record like his, I guess having a huge stand up game wasn't key for him.

I wasn't sure who would win the fight. If I had to pick a winner it would have probably been Hughes. Who is bigger, and was on a win streak, unlike Penn who had two frustrating losses in a row.

Ok. I may have been exaggerating when I knocked hughes stand up, but compared to alot of other guys in his division, its not near where it should be, but with his wrestling style, he usually doesnt have to use his striking, as really, the only two people who can beat him on the ground, are BJ and GSP.

rebelyell 11-22-2010 11:39 PM

I wasted full price for this fight on PPV.. just like the last 2 I paid for. Goddammit. As for Matt Hughes, he went out like a fat kid playing dodgeball.. I'm not gonna waste my money anymore.. :o

I watch every UFC fight for free on my computer the next morning via torrents. post fight night sunday mornings are my favorite :)

NeedACobra 11-23-2010 09:21 AM

Yeah..Its really hit or miss when you order a ppv UCF.

I have a buddy that has a few of websites that he goes to that stream the fights for free, but sometimes the quality is really shitty, or its in spanish, or it has to buffer a lot. I keep meaning to ask him what the sites are.
