Default Got A Bump in the Rear

In other words, I got rear ended/fender bender, very minor though.

Car is dirty but you can see the scratches under the "M" which is scratched also.

I went to Hot Springs, AR on Saturday to meet up with a buddy and party, which deserves a thread on it's own. But, while leaving on Sunday I was sitting at a light to turn left. This intersection had two left turn lanes, I was in the right lane waiting. I'm sitting there messing with the GPS and I feel the car move forward, like it had been bumped. I look and thought maybe I let the clutch out a little or something, and then look in my rear view mirror. Some old lady in her Honda was all in my mirror and I realize she just hit me. I get out to see if there was any damage, as you can see in the picture it wasn't anything bad but that's a hell of a lot of scratches. The lady that hit me was trying to get into the left turn lane and didn't leave enough room to drive around me, but rather just drove right into me. The worst part was, as I was walking back to look at the bumper, she looked like she was about to drive into me again. I told her to stop and said "What are you doing, you just hit me." she didn't even realise she had hit me. I wanted to get out of the road so I asked her to drive over to a gas station. As I was walking back to me car she started going forward, she was only about a foot away from my car and I had to yell at her to stop because I thought she was going to hit me again. We looked at the damage and she acted mad that I even wanted to make and issue of it. She had about the same damage on her front bumper. She was saying things like "That will polish out." "This is so minor." "How do I even know that wasn't there before?" I was just nice and got her insurance information. She was very old, around 70-80, and probably shouldn't even be on the road, which was then confirmed. As she was leaving, she backed up, I nearly thought she was going to hit me again, and then proceeded to drive straight into the curb all the way to the front wheels, crunching the bumper the whole way. She then backed up, and drove staight into that bitch again!!! She finally got it the third time.

I've notified my insurance, and called her insurance and am going to the Ford dealership here to get an appraisal on the work it would take to fix. It probably just needs to be repainted, but that sucks, Blacks probably arn't going to match.

That does suck, but I'm glad it wasn't worse. You should've dropkicked that bitch.

Glad it wasn't a lot worse. I have always agreeded that at some point you do need to turn in the keys and let someone else do the driving. Its a sad sad fact of life of life but it needs to happen.
Good luck and hope the paint matches OK.

Damn man that **** sucks. I had the same thing happen about 2 years ago with some Russian bitch. She was such a ******* **** and kept saying no big deal and really I wouldn't have done anything about it if she was really nice. Well all said and done the cops came out got a report, she had an expired license and couldn't drive away and had to be towed. I also got almost 500 from her insurance for the scratches that actually buffed out. So needless to say never say a fender bender is no big deal and be nice to the person you hit.

What aggrevates me the most is that it was so avoidable. I could understand more if she had really rear ended becuase she thought the light was green or something or wasn't watching. Even though the damage would have been worse, it's more understandable how that would happen. This lady knew I was there, and just drove into me.

I am just happy the dude stuck around and waited for me and gave me his info. Kinda Rare these days. I dropped it off at the shop today and go my rental car. Got a new Chevy Malibu..... just not the same. i already miss my car. I should get it back by thursday at the latest. I have had fun with the Paddle shifters on the Malibu though!

When you get it repainted get them to try n blend it. It worked out well with my silver and should definetly work with black. Cause with silver you can definetly see the shades.

I do need to make sure they blend. I got rear ended in my other Mustang, a lot worse than this, and had to get the bumper, trunk, and all that stuff replaced and you could tell that the blacks were different. I had about three different shades of black on that car. On my GT the paint is pretty good, so this issue makes me a sad panda.

The dealership found about $600 worth of stuff to repair. It's just getting repainted and the chrome letters are getting replaced. I talked to them about the paint and they were pretty confident that they wouldn't have any problem, which I'm going to hold them to. They wern't able to schedule me that day becuase the insurance is liability pending, I gotta call them and make sure everything is going through ok.

i had a feeling they were gonna assrape you with bullshit charges. i would say "no thanks" and go with the scratches rather then spend 600 bucks to repair the scratches. but, if insurance is gonna cover it, then no problem!

****'n **** man. I've been calling the insurance companies almost daily making sure everyone has everything they need, pictures that I've got, all the car information, detailed description of ******* everything. Towards the end of last week I called the other ladie's insurance to see if they need the pictures of the damage of both cars. They say "sure that will help, but we can't accept it from you. Send it to your insurance first, and then have them send it to us." "WTF M8", I say. Ok, so I call my insurance, get an E-mail address for them to send this **** to, they have to get a fax number for the other ladies insurance to send it to. I call the other ladies insurance today, they haven't gotten **** for pictures, and if they do get a fax, it's going to be in black and white with no detail. I need to call my insurance and have them set up a business to business E-mail for the pictures. I call my insurance, they can't even E-mail **** to other businesses becuase of some security ****. "WTF M8", I say. Oh, and to top that off, I found out the lady that hit me is disputing it. She claims she didn't even notice any hit. OF COURSE SHE DIDN'T, SHE'S OLD AS **** AND NEARLY HIT ME A SECOND TIME! So I have to wait for the old bitch to get her damage estimated and pictures sent in, and then for her insurance to figure everything out. This crap is going to take forever, which I don't have the time for. I was really hoping I'd be able to get the car in the shop at the end of the week, have a rental car for this weekend when I have to drive a long distance for some business. WTF M8!

Edit: LOL on the bright side, I had planed a week ahead to have someone else hold most of the meeting I have in thirty minutes. So they won't get chewed out for some small **** since I'm pissed.

Yeah, it would have helped, unfortunately I didn't think about it after the fact. I mentioned that to the agent I was talking to and they said that if the police saw that there was less than 1K in damage that they may not have even made a report, but I still should have called them.

I can still do that, except I have a $250 deductible and I wouldn't be garunteed to get that back unless they can get it from the other party. So I'm going to wait it out a bit. However, when I got rearended in my other Mustang several years ago, it seems like my insurance did all the work for me. I don't remember talking to anyone.

To all who get in an accident, if its their fault, dont even hesitate to call the police. Heres what should happen in a wreck, *wreck happens, people get out* "Hey you ok? Yea, you? Yup, now gimme five secs, callin the fuz." It seems everyone tries to wiggle out of **** these days.

Here's what I did when I got bumped in my truck at a stop light. As soon as I felt the bump ( and that's all it was). I got on my cell and dialed *HP, and said accident at so and so intersection. Cop was there in 3 mins. No damage at all, but the dude was drunk and got took downtown for booking.

This was before I got my stang. If it happens again to me. I will be tempted to call for a dollar collar. You never know how a nudge in the wrong direction will effect your neck or back.. The old lady can try to leave and that will give you more leverage in court. Cold? Yes. But it happens everyday. And driving any automobile at any age is a privelege, not a right... You **** up, you pay up...

Got a call from the old ladies insurance today, they are ******* denying the claim. I was speechless. I argued with them forever about how the **** do they figure they are not liable. Basically the old lady, who didn't even ******* realize she hit me, is saying she was sitting there with her foot on the brake and didn't hit me. So they are taking her word over mine and disregarding the pictures of the damage. It doesn't even ******* surprise me though. It's like no matter how much sense it makes, and how everything fits together, they won't admit that it happened. Pisses me off to no end. Just because she lied, and we didn't have any witnesses wither way, yet there are pictures of damage and ****, that I'm getting bent the **** over. Ignorance is not an excuse.

Time to start buffing with some buffing compound..

Insurance is retarded.. It's stupid we even need to carry it, because its always denied.. Mom got hit by a drunk driver, blind in one eye, and had perscription drugs in the car that wasnt his, and we still have no settlement from them and its been over 7 months. Completely totaled the aurora out, and had mom under physical therapy. Its just stupid.

**** that. If you got a police report?? I would get a lawyer right now and sue. Any good personal injury lawyer will accept that case, if you got the documents you need. Police reports, and charges against the other driver.. Insurance companies don't hold all the winning cards..

Yeah we had police report, they even had the crash drawn out on paper. Showing both cars moving into their resting positions.

All were getting is 50,000 from his insurance. But then lawyer takes 1/3, then ambulance ride, then paying off credit cards, getting mom a new car = 0$$.

You just said you weren't getting any settlement. Not saying what the guy did was right, but getting a new car, paying off credit cards sounds like your mom made out alright. if she has no serious injuries, then how much more do you really think you'll get? No point in really sueing someone if they don't have money anyways.
