Default I been let go from the Air Force.

The Air Force notified me today that I will be separating June 30 2010. I didnt have plans for this and am in no way prepared for it. I dont qualify for 6 months of separation pay either. I will be out on my *** without a well paying job.

I may have to sell my Mustang just to help me survive until I start school. I will probably have to call my credit union about buying out my loan for the Speed 3 as well.

This is fucked.

I lost rank last year because of a drinking and driving (DWI) charge that occured in 2008. This put me at E-3 and what the AF did was something they call DOS (date of separation) rollback. I have a re-enlist code that was included with this rollback. They did a rollback in November but I wasnt on that list but those people had 6 month notification. This second rollback wasnt projected nor expected by anyone. I was already approved for re-enlistment this summer but since I had a bad code I got nabbed.

How do they just let someone go? My buddy just went to basic for the Marines, factured his leg, but they are keeping him there to heal/rehabilitate and then finishing basic. His *** wanted to be let go.

Thats crazy! I've never heard of that. My plans were to go to the air force after I finish my bachelors. I was gonna apply for the officer program and join as 2nd lieutenant. But my buddy says things are pretty hairy in the AF right now. So maybe things will be different..

Sorry to hear about it dude. That really sucks.

I don't fully understand the situation about being let go, but that's awful news.

I wish you the best.

It's boot for the Marines, not basic. They don't like it being called basic training. lol.

But that sucks Stanger, what a shitty way to end your AF career. Have you looked into any of other branches?

They are down sizing the AF again so just about anyone with a Article 15 or a bad track record with discipline issues gets the boot.

One of my friends was let go and then he joined the Army. I'm sure if you want to stay in the military you can join another branch.

Sorry to hear that they just out of no where told you you would have to seperate. Best of luck to you.

I didnt get picked up for this because of a Article but because I'm an E-3 with 55 months or more time in service on my first enlistment. I already had that waived for my re-enlistment but the commander had no control over this decision...They were upset about it as well. I think I was the only one who flipped when I was told.

I looked into the codes and I am ineligible for all branches unless I get a waiver. I'm going to shoot for the guard over these next couple weeks. The job I specialize in has a couple openings in Moffett field which is in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Turned insurance back to 1000 deductibles, phone service stripped to lowest plan, internet will be gone soon. This is just to save up as much as I can until I move back in with my F'n parents. My last day in uniform should be 28 May if the commander approves my terminal leave.

My Post 9/11 GI Bill will be used to whichever community college accepts it until I get smart enough to apply for a state college. The plus with this is that I get E-5 BAH straight to my bank account and they pay the school directly. I will get more information as the weeks go by but this is what I know so far.

Thanks you guys and lady...dont worry I didnt lose all hope. I still have a lot of seminars to sit in before I get out. I cant wait until I get all my info on Resume writing. I been active duty since I was 19 and I'm 26 now with no Resume writing skills or interviewing skills. This will be rough at first.

Oh so they screwed you on the new higher tenure rules or whatever? Thats very gay.

My friend that I mentioned further up got kicked out for a DUI so if he could get in the Army I'm sure you can if you wanted to go that route.

Keep your head up man. My wife seperated about a year and a half ago and she just had someone else write her resume. She just emailed all of her training and certificates to some guy and he did everything. She had to pay but I don't think it was that expensive. You got your benefits so I'm sure you'll bounce right back.

Nope, I only have 7 years in. HYT is 10 years. I got hit with the DOS rollback where they use peoples Re-enlist codes as the reason to force the airman out. If I were hit with HYT than I would have until Sept. The SECAF wants 5000 airman out before FY11. Read the email he sent out last Friday.

That right there just goes to show you, The Air Force holds you to a higher standard than the other branches. Always been that way with flyboys. I'm an Army Brat, same as my wife, and my dad had his stripes ripped a few times for **** he did. But he just got them back again after awhile.. My wifes dad was a war hero in Nam so he got away with everything stupid he ever did..

But they might be anticipating a slow down in these war zones, But in the Army, they were actually accepting criminals and ******* Retards, ( yes I said the R word, L Oh L)..

That sucks man, but you'll be alright. As far as the resumes go, they aren't that bad to do. You can even google resume templates and all that and find examples and tips on what to use. I would say, if you want some interviewing experience, just apply for some shitty retail jobs and just go through the interview process with them. You'll at least get a little idea at what they ask and just kinda get use to the whole thing. Of course you don't actually have to accept any of the jobs.

Yeah you will be alright. I was actually honorably discharged due to not being able to pass my run on the PT test consistantly enough to stay in. I thoguht I was going to die when they told me they were kicking me out too. But I landed on my feet.

Dont know how bad it is in the Air Force but in the Army they brainwash the **** outta you to think the outside world of the military is horrible. Thats how they keep people in, and you dont realize it till you get out.

I was thinking the same things but I didn't want to come off as a *** hole. The run is actually 1.5 miles.

Some people just aren't made for it. I've never been able to get my run under 10 mins. I'm really trying to right now though.

lol. They do however no matter how much PT I did (running) I just couldnt seem to run any faster. Im built like a box. I was actually fighting as hard as I could to stay in and tried to pass one last PT (run) test and still failed that bitch. I was training for that 3 times a day for like a month. But oh well excuses are like ********.
