I pretty sure the ford guys are sand bagging with the 412 number and that the really out put is a bit higher than that

the 395 is at the wheels and the 412 is supposed to be at the crank

but then again ford likes to under rate since the early edge cobras that were over rated

Awesome! Ithought the 412 was good but if it is really closer to 440 thats great. I cant wait to see what it puts down with a good tune.

I'm sad the torque hasn't improved too much.

And DAMN that thing revs hard!

I can't wait to hear some good exhaust vids. As far as I can tell right now its not too aggressive sounding like a LS1/2, sounds more mellow like the old 5.0s.

wow that thing is really underrated...because if if it was only 412 it would lose a lot more that 17hp in through out the drivetrain.

Manley H beams, Pistons and a YSI will still be a fraction of a GT 500.. and Im betting people figure out a quick combo for 700 to the wheels.

That's pretty sweet if his is true. And 17hp would not be much of a difference, but its 395 to the wheels which is around 454 to the crank. So it's like a 42hp difference for the people who can't read. Should be a pretty sweet car. Now if I could only afford one.

Ford rates their cars off of the lowest hp found.

For example, Termis dyno at somewhere around 360-380 to the wheels. So Ford uses the 360rwhp value to give the estimated hp numbers instead of the 380rwhp. Still under-rated, but they don't end up looking like GM having guys hit 20hp less than the estimated hp.

395 to the tires is ******* awesome! The adjustable cam setup they have in the new motor is just insane and really makes the whole motor. I was initially a little pissed that they resorted to a 4v head but as well as they've pulled it off and yanking well over 400bhp from every single one of the motors to come off the line is a testament to outstanding engineering and brilliant engineers. My hat's off to them.

By the numbers these things should only be putting down 330-350rwhp. They've beat that by 40-70hp.

They've been underrating their cars ever since that incident with the 99? cobra where nobody was dynoing at the advertised rating.

I say buy one. Add a small 75-shot maybe and then blow the doors off of lightly modded Termis and Camaros all day long. With their high compression that thing would pump out some good numbers with spray.

I got my eyes on the new GT. But I won't buy the 1st year production model. I'll bide my time and wait and see what, if any issues need to be fixed with the 2011 model. I'm thinking maybe 2012 ( if the world still exists, LOL). But I wonder if they are planning something special for 2014. 50th anniversary of somekind.

Articles I've read state that Ford had their best engineers, and folks did a lot of brainstorming and long hours creating the new 5.0. Some people thought the prototype headers wouldn't work, but actually enhanced the HP level. That guy built the prototype in his garage at home.

Good article about all of it in MM & FF this month..

Well by 2014 they could be looking into a new model as that will have four years running on the body-style now.

I bet they make a GT500 50th anniversary or something. Look at the 45th anniv. they didn't really do **** for that but have a huge *** mustang show, which was AWESOME.

haha, they've been under-rating their cars ever since the Muscle car days....they do that to dupe the insurance people.

under-rating from the factory is nothing new.

Yep, Just like in 2004 it was the last model year for that body style and they wanted to get them sold. I haggled all day to get mine down from 29K sticker price to 21K selling price. I'm sure the invoice was alot lower than that but I also got a good incentive plan from work.. I'm thinking bout the same strategy for 2014. They'll be wanting to get them sold by then. And usually here they will have plenty to choose from...

http://wot.motortrend.com/6659607/au...v-6/index.html

looks like motortrend dynoed them to and found similar results for the GT at 435 at the crank (not quite as high)

and the v6 dynoed at a little better than advertized as well

I would still take a terminator over this new GT anyday. Its just so stupidly cheap to modify a cobra and see returns out the wazoo. Plus factory forged. But I prefer the looks of newedges and the way they sit low to the ground and feel like im actually driving.
