it dynoed at 395 rwhp and 365 ft lbs
can you say under-rated

I pretty sure the ford guys are sand bagging with the 412 number and that the really out put is a bit higher than that
the 395 is at the wheels and the 412 is supposed to be at the crank
but then again ford likes to under rate since the early edge cobras that were over rated

I'm sad the torque hasn't improved too much.
And DAMN that thing revs hard!
I can't wait to hear some good exhaust vids. As far as I can tell right now its not too aggressive sounding like a LS1/2, sounds more mellow like the old 5.0s.

That's pretty sweet if his is true. And 17hp would not be much of a difference, but its 395 to the wheels which is around 454 to the crank. So it's like a 42hp difference for the people who can't read. Should be a pretty sweet car. Now if I could only afford one.

For example, Termis dyno at somewhere around 360-380 to the wheels. So Ford uses the 360rwhp value to give the estimated hp numbers instead of the 380rwhp. Still under-rated, but they don't end up looking like GM having guys hit 20hp less than the estimated hp.

395 to the tires is ******* awesome! The adjustable cam setup they have in the new motor is just insane and really makes the whole motor. I was initially a little pissed that they resorted to a 4v head but as well as they've pulled it off and yanking well over 400bhp from every single one of the motors to come off the line is a testament to outstanding engineering and brilliant engineers. My hat's off to them.
By the numbers these things should only be putting down 330-350rwhp. They've beat that by 40-70hp.

Ford rates their cars off of the lowest hp found.

I got my eyes on the new GT. But I won't buy the 1st year production model. I'll bide my time and wait and see what, if any issues need to be fixed with the 2011 model. I'm thinking maybe 2012 ( if the world still exists, LOL). But I wonder if they are planning something special for 2014. 50th anniversary of somekind.
Articles I've read state that Ford had their best engineers, and folks did a lot of brainstorming and long hours creating the new 5.0. Some people thought the prototype headers wouldn't work, but actually enhanced the HP level. That guy built the prototype in his garage at home.
Good article about all of it in MM & FF this month..

I bet they make a GT500 50th anniversary or something. Look at the 45th anniv. they didn't really do **** for that but have a huge *** mustang show, which was AWESOME.

Well by 2014 they could be looking into a new model as that will have four years running on the body-style now.

looks like motortrend dynoed them to and found similar results for the GT at 435 at the crank (not quite as high)
and the v6 dynoed at a little better than advertized as well

I would still take a terminator over this new GT anyday. Its just so stupidly cheap to modify a cobra and see returns out the wazoo. Plus factory forged. But I prefer the looks of newedges and the way they sit low to the ground and feel like im actually driving.
