who here is surfing the net at 56k? anyone?

I just see an ever-decreasing need for a high kb content warning these days.

 

Well, I'd like to vote on the poll, but honestly as shitty as Comcast is around here, it's like I'm still on 56k sometimes. This forum literally takes like 30-45 seconds to load sometimes and others are even slower. On the T-1 (which is technically slower than cable) at work it takes 15-20 seconds. I'm working on finding an alternative to Comcast, but trying to wait for Verizon to get their fiber optic here before I make any decisions.

Believe it or not though I know a lot of people still using dial-up.. They do exist.

 

I thought dial-up was dead in this country... I mean I kno it exists...but damn. Im poor and I have fast interwebz.

Anyhow, I have a friend who lives out in the middle of bum fucked egypt, and they CANT get anything other than dial-up. Been like that for about 3 years. Funny though, because back when I had dial-up, you know, in 240 b.c., It didnt seem as slow as it is now. I think they made it slower so everyone would get high-speed internet. haha. Thats my conspiracy theory.

shoot I remember back in the day having dial up AOL and waiting for it to ring and ring then like 10 mins to open a picture or anything on the web it was pitiful. I don't know how anyone has 56k anymore, freaking bottom of the barrel cell phones come with faster internet then that. lol.

 

I cant play on PS3 live or xbox 360 live, or play any other games online because of mine. Its really sad..

from my logs at work it would seem that among Pr0n surfers about 20% in the US and a helluva lot more in other countries(except in asia) are using dial up. Asia has the least dial up access, widest adoption of broadband and also the highest average bandwidth per capita in the world.

India and the xxxxxistan countries have about the shittiest data infrastructure I ever have to deal with. Even their fast stuff is like 128-512kbps microwave.
