Unhappy Wrecked

Hit a deer on my way to work last night I'm ok but the car is not!!! It was a 6 point buck that met the left front hard and fast. I'm old so I have really good insurance but the timing is really bad.

And this morning I found the imprint from his head and antlers in the center of the hood. It's also way out of alignment and not shifting correctly. So I will be driving a rental for a while

Ouch, Girl. That looks like a hood, fender, bumber replacement to me.. Glad you're Ok though. I've seen some seriously Bad results from car vs deer impacts. Most being coming through the windshield. You must have been a little shaky after that. I would have been..

It rattled my cage pretty good!!! I've got a red mark from the seat belt and I'm a little sore today but nothing major. I did go on to work and finish my 12 hour shift. But my airbags didn't deploy and I was going around 40mph when I hit the damn thing.

And the deer didn't die immediatly, he lingered kicking and bawling for a good 10-15 minutes.

seeings how u needed a new hood anyways, i wouldve strapped er down across it took it home and skinned it and ate it... especially deer, its amazingly good.. and by looking at the damage, ford made 05 and up mustangs sooo much better in regards to impact damage.. cosmetically wise. as far as i know.

Wow, that's crazy! I'm glad you are alright, so many people are injured/die from stuff like that. Car parts can be replaced, there is only one of you. I hope things get better for ya! Keeping you in my prayers.

Sorry to hear about your luck. I am glad that you are ok though. Are you going to upgrade the hood or bumper with the insurance money?

That sucks so much! My mom's Honda had about the same damage over a larger area, and it wasn't too expensive. Made for a fun quick fix though...

Haha, that's funny...+10 Horsepower LOL. I used to see a car around here with a huge dent in the hood, most likely from a dear. But they spray painted a "crime scene chalk body outline" around the dent and down their front bumper.

atleast you didnt swerve and go into anything else. local sheriffs around here are posting those electronic boards that say "Don't veer for deer!"....more damage to you and your car if you do, insurance will be harder to deal with...not to mention that fact they have assigned police sharpshooters to my area to kill deer because it is crazy over-populated right now

Another thing about deer is, if you do see one crossing the road way ahead of you, slow down even if he gets across before you get to him. There are usually a few more following. And it's a natural reaction to swerve to avoid hitting something in the road. You just have make the split second call on that. If you do have time to slam the brakes, then you will have a better chance of keeping the deer from crashing through your windshield. But if you can get by with swerving a bit and just clipping him then he should go off to the side a bit. It's all judgement call though if there's traffic around.

One thing is for sure, even a deer frozen in your headlights will most likely dart in front of you, when he's on the side of the road..

I've never hit a deer, but I've seen a few waiting to cross to road. Luckily they seemed to not want to die that day..

I got the appraisal today and it sucks.

The appraiser only rated my damage for $3700!! And she left out the grill and didn't have anything for the tranny or alignment.

Guess I will be making some phone calls in the morning.

Stupid *** deer. Only thing those bastards are good for is food. If that thing did that to my car, I'd probably get out and stomp it to death... and if it was already dead, I'd stomp it into its second death.

I'm glad you're okay. Sucks about the 'Stang, though. Time for a California Special front bumper!

It just keeps getting better. I spoke to the appraiser today and she said she didn't see where the grill was broken but if the body shop says it's broken they can file for a supplement. And she said there was no mention of the mechanical issues because she couldnt SEE any mechanical damage!!! NO ****. Didn't even write to have it inspected, just nothing!!

I have to take it to the dealership and have it inspected and if they find any damage that they consider to be impact related then they have to contact the appraiser and she has to come and sign off before any work can be done.

I'm starting to doubt if it will be fixed in time to ship!!!

Some one got to eat it!! Some dude in a PU stopped and asked for it and I was more than glad to let him take it away. And it didn't die quickly, it laid in the road bawling for 10 or 15 minutes before if finally died.

Right now I'll settle for fixed back the way it was.

And where you been, haven't seen you posting for a while, was about ready to send out a search party. Miss your input, keeps things interesting around here.

There is a GT grille in my area without the fogs that someone is selling for $25.

I'm not sure I'd eat that deer. It's considered 'roadkill'. I might be southern, but I'm not that southern, haha.

I got another job and don't have time to go online and I've been having problems with our internet at home. The wireless works only when it wants to and it doesn't seem to want to work often. I try to keep it interesting around here. No one seems to bitch and moan as much as I do!

I saw a big escalade type suv hit a deer that ran across the entire interstate, caught its *** with the fender and the son of a bitch did about two-two and a half somersaults and landed off the side of the road, along with some of the cars body. Id never seen anything like that before, haha. But yeah, I see deer all the time on the side of the road just waiting to cross. Ill slow the **** down real fast if theres noone behind me, haha. I hate deer.
