Default OMFG PS3....

I got a PS3 like 2 weeks ago, been awesome graphics are sweet games are fun, BUT....I try to connect online and its all FUBAR. I lag out randomly, and sometimes cant connect to matches, i also went and bought a headphone mike thing. The mike RUINS everything, if i turn it on i cant connect to ANY matches at all, and if i turn it on mid-match it lags me out instantly. WTFH?! I paid 50 bucks to get shafted or what?! Anyone else have this kind of problem?

Seriously...another PS3 thread? Y'all need to get a life...nerds.

But to answer your question, just check your internet connection. That happens a lot if you're connected via wifi. I have yet to hear of a problem with the wired setups.

I despise making cables after having to make so many when I was in the Army. Anyway yeah I wouldnt blame the PS3. Probably, like mentioned a combination of several things that are affecting your connection. Wireless sucks for gaming, always has. Unless you get a powerful enough router, like the dlink gaming one. I had one of those and gaming was about as good as wired. Also the games servers are client based, so that means people with other crappy connections hosting a game will mean issues for all.

The ps3 is a powerful piece of technology.

We got a linksys something router, its shiny and looks nice but its probably not really...we would go buy a massive cable, but it would look like **** having a cable run through the entire house.(my parents seem to think so) wireless can suck my nuts really...

THERE is your problem. I had the same problems with our old Linksys piece of garbage. If you search it on google you will find that people loose connection with their PS3's all the time with their Linksys routers. Apparently it's because they constantly reboot themselves. After we got our new NetGear router, everything worked like magic. It's not the PS3, it's your router.

I have a linksys router and my internet connection is just fine. My xbox runs smoothly online and so does the internet on my computer. Playstations online is not the greatest.

Nice try. It's the router. PS3 and Linksys do NOT have a good relationship, trust me on this one. I had the same problem for a month or two and it drove me insane. The router would work GREAT with other things, but my PS3 just hated the thing.

Deathdiesel, you need to ditch the Linksys, or go wired.

I have a Linksys router and have had plenty of issues with my PS3. It works just dandy as long as NOTHING else is using tthe wireless. If my laptop is on and connected to the router wirelessly the PS3 wont run for **** online. Same with my wifes Ipod touch.

Xbox 360 never had any issues whatsoever with the wireless connection. they just kept breaking on me.

So even though my friends PS3 is connected directly into his modem and we have still had connection issues, you're telling me it's the linksys router?

What kind of router does he have? PS3 does not have poor connections. Stop trying to make yourself feel good about paying $50/year

I'm not sure if you read or not, but his statement was that it was plugged "directly into the modem."

PS3's online platform is pretty shitty. You can defend it all you want, but even the hardcore Sony lovers agree that it needs help.

I don't love Xbox Live, but I certainly like knowing that when I turn my 360 on that I will be able to get online to a secure, fast server and have no issues 90% of the time. Whereas with PS3 you're pretty much 50/50 that you might have an issue and you might not, that just doesn't spell out confidence for me.

Thank you that someone can read. I don't hate the PS3 just to hate it. There are some things I think it does well in, but Sony's online is not one of them. I didn't hate PS2 and online on that sucked *** too. Poor connections, shitty servers, and people cheated like crazy. Stop being the typical 17 year old that thinks he knows everything. I'm more than happy to pay a whole $50 a year for a great online experience. I can afford it and doesn't affect me financially at all. Been doing it for 6 years now. So that's a whopping total of $300 in 6 years.

I don't think you could get another modem unless you were running it off a different phone line. I would ditch DSL anyways and get cable.
