So after I finished giving it to my gf this morning on my day off, I'm like sweet, now I can kick some *** online. Went to turn on my ps3 and the focker acts like its booting up. Three seconds later I get a yellow light and then a blinking red light. Got on my laptop and read of about the Yellow light of Death aka YLOD and pretty much i'm F'd. Now I can't even get my game cause force eject doesn't work and my warranty already expired. ...Anybody know how to get my game out? I guess i'm gonna have to shell out 300 bucks for a new one.

 

that blows man. i just moved to PS3 from 360 cause my Xbox's kept breaking down.

if it is out of warranty, then you basically have a boat anchor. just break the damn thing open and retreive the disc that way.

If its something that has a trend of screwing up on PS3's they should fix it for free anyway. My warranty was up on XBOX and I got the 3 red lights and they fixed it for free anyway. Sucks though. Looks like both the XBOX and PS3 were rushed to be put out they didn't take the time to fix all the screw up's first.

 

I've never heard of a PS3 taking a crap...

I've seen 4 ps3's poop all over themselves, ive seen way more 360's defecate on the rug, but still the ps3 has its problems just any other console(except the wii... and the ps2... and the ps1... and the original xbox, and the n64 and the atari 2600,and...etc...)

 

The PS2's had quite a few problems when they first came out. My friend went through a few of them when he first got it. My Wii hasn't had any problems, but then again, it gets played maybe once a month if that.

Sorry about your loss man. No matter which way you go you're SOL, except Microsoft will fix it for you, in my experiences with other customer's PS3s Sony will not.

I've heard that the error you got is the red ring of death for the Xbox....=/ Sorry bro.

 

Sucks I just mailed out my 4th xbox yesterday and its an Elite console $500 system that took a crap, I got the 3 rings of death mines out of warranty but microsoft repairs it for free..

 

u can always send it back to sony and they will fix it for a cost probably around 100$ if its out of warranty and after that they will put a new warranty on the ps3 that they fixed, ive done it and its not that bad and cheaper to shell out another 300-400 bucks

 

my friend actually had a launch day ps3 turn into a doorstop about 2 months after he got it. pretty much the same thing happened, but he ended up taking it back to the store.

 

Well forked over $300 bucks for the new 120 gb slimmer version. I like it a lot. It doesn't weigh a ton, doesn't make as much heat and the fan noise is very very low. I'm digging it..
