I want to see videos stat. I'm considering the Canon T1 (pretty much the same as D90) for it's HD vid capability and want to know how the DSLRs fair with their videos

pics?.. that is a pic of the actual D90. I took it in my home made lightbox with my D40. lol

It feels much more burly than the D40, plus pretty much everything can be controlled without menu diving.

I also have a battery grip and a Nikko 50mm 1.8 AF lens en route as well.

Video works easy, not very usedful if you need to move the camera alot, it gets shutter roll and gelling. i honestly have NO clue how to upload vids and such.

Very nice. I'd be happy just to have another lens for my D40.

Hell Yeah!!!!

Im starting to get paid for this stuff! Ive done some photo restoration, wedding invitations, a promotional poster for the ITF and ill be shooting thier event next spring, right now my current project is working up 5 company posters for the new training room for a shoring/trenching equipment company, which will come out to about $250 per poster.

Ive been doing some collaberation with a friend of mine who is a much more experienced photographer and it has gone well enough we plan to start a side business doing this stuff. Got the Domain, website is under construction, we have ties to several other companies that can help flow clients in... everything is coming together suprisingly well.

i figured its time to get a camera body that is more flexable and capable than my Nikon D40. I love that little camera, but it just is not up to the projects ill be doing.

This D90 is awesome! It stomps my D40 every way possible! (then again at 3 times the price it better do something more. lol)

Someone was going to ask eventually.. What are you gonna do with the D40?

I'd love to have a D90, but it's just not in the budget. My little 5mp point & shoot does a good job for what it is, but I'm bored with it now.

Damn you! Hell my brother just picked up a T1i a couple days ago...damnit! I wouldn't mind having a bigger sensor to get better results with my 10-20mm...

'Grats on the D90. Those are sick cameras.

Nice! I'll be picking up a D300 sometime around Christmas hopefully. I don't want to have a DX camera anymore.

I was seriously considering the D300, in the end i the D90 won our cause of a $500 price difference, plus the only things about the d300 that really stands apart from the d90 is the weather sealing, FPS, and beefier autofocus motor. Other than that, the D90 is every bit as good ad the D300 and it beats the d300 in low light performance and dynamic range.

8fps would be sick with the gripped d300 though

oh yeah and switch, the D300 is a DX camera. The only nikon full frames are D700 and D3(x)... there really isnt anything wrong with the crop frames.

EDIT: The D40 is staying in the bag as a backup.

Yup, you're right. Damn... when's Nikon going to release an FX camera under 2 grand? Canon's got one.

yeah, the weather sealing is something i do kind of want. i tend to do a lot of outdoor shooting and some concert shooting. i've seen low light concert shots from a D90 as well as D300 and the amount of (or lack, i should say) of noise in the dark areas stuns me compared to my D60.

I actually got rained on while I had my D60 outside last weekend. I threw a plastic bag over it but it still got wet

ive been rained on with my D60. nothing too heavy, more mist than anything. haven't had a problem with it other than moisture on the glass. i would like the peace of mind of the weather sealant. the higher fps would also be nice.

I did not know Canon did, i know Sony does, but ill put my D90 against that POS anyday for performance.....

honestly i dont see much of an advantage though. Lots of pro's use crop sensors just fine.

Oh yah man. ISO 3200 on my D40 was worthless. Howwever ISO 3200 on the D90 is VERY usable.

I just got my 50mm 1.8AF lens in, it from the D90's autofocus motor can focus focus it from 0 to infinity back to zero in less than a second. I love having the AF motor.

That's the first time I've ever seen a 5D > $2000...granted it's by 5 cents, but your point was proven. Touche' sir.

just got a lightly used one for 1100$. hopefully will be here by the end of the week. my friend s band is playing a show saturday night and would like to test it out then. ill probably sell my D60. I don't really need a backup camera right now so I'll just recover some of the funds through that. hopefully get ~$300 for it.
