eh.. I don't usually drink beer. But when I do my favorite to drink is Old Style. On the exact opposite end of the spectrum for me is Coors, which I hate with a passion. That hatred grew even more when I had to play 3 rounds of beer pong using Coors. God that sucked

Its very hard to find because they don't make many bottles a year so its hard to find it. I had a friend find 3 of those for me while he was in Wyoming a while back.

For cheap party beer that I can drink like water, Bud lite. Me and a friend finish a pitcher per game of bowling, or one pitcher each when we eat somewhere. We slow down a bit when we get to 4 pitchers (two each).

I have been going to this place called Old Chicago in Conway, AR close to the college. They have 110 different beers and a program called the World Beer Tour, you get stuff as you try a certain number of new beers. Not that I've tried a whole lot, or super worldy on beers, but one of my absolute favorites so far is Abita Purple Haze Raspberry Wheat. It has just a hint of raspberry flavor, even said to be slighly purple but I couldn't tell in the restraunt. It wasn't super bitter or a bad alcoholy aftertaste. and was very crisp.

My worse beer experience so far has been at the Chillis in Millington, TN durring a PCA event weekend. I wasnted something Samuel Adams Octoberfest, they didn't have it, so I ordered whatever Samuel Adams they had on tap. The waiter was super weird and didn't know what they had, so after waiting for him to go find out, he brings me TWO pints of Boston Lager. It's buy one get one night, which is cool, but ****, wait till I'm finished with one before you bring out the next, I don't want to watch it sitting there getting warm. I don't drink fast when I'm out at a restraunt. On top of that, the beer looked like it had been sitting at thebar for an hour, no head when he brought it, no carbonation, they were nearly room temp already.

The initial taste wasn't bad, except for being nearly warm, good hops and good malting of the barley, however, it had a horrible aftertaste, I nearly couldn't stand it. I actually had the waiter take both pints away and got a water.

^^^ um, elaborate. I've never heard of it. What does it taste like? Furthermore, why is your mug not frosty? I haven't had a chance to try anything new recently. I have just been consuming mass amounts of BL.

Pours a clouded amber with a crème head. The flavor is interesting with a bitter sweet thing. It's pungent with citrus and a bit of booze. A fair amount of acid is also present. Feel is slick on liquid and the carbonation is smooth enough. This is nice to drink, though a bit edgy.

You guys are funny.

No Bud or Coors products will touch these lips anymore, but I will drink Molson whihc is funny because Molson, Miller, and Coors are now the same company.

A few of my favorite beers:

Creemore - only available in Canada, but it is a very good beer....one of the best I have ever had and very drinkable for any ocassion or purpose.

Oberon - Made by Bells Brewery. Very good...rock solid beer. Not filtered but I think they flash pastuerized.

Southshore - Made in very northern WI along Lake Superior. Not filtered, low carbonation, and not pasteurized.

I very much prefer beer the way God intended....no or low filtration and no pastuerization. It ruins the taste...many banquet beers have no taste anyway and they even advertise "filtered".

Here is the thing, for shelf-life purposes and for transport, you really have to filter and pastuerize a beer. Otherwise, it gets ruined, and then tastes like **** anyway. Fresh, good beer will never be heated....it ruins it, but you have to drink it right away.

If you ever get a chance, be sure to drink "cask conditioned" beer. It is hard to find, but is the real thing.....this is the way to drink beer like a man, not a coors drinking woman (lol).

Cask conditioned or cask ales are beers that are allowed to undergo secondary fermentation from the unfiltered yeast and lack of pasteurization (pasteurization kills yeast and thus no more fermentation). This process will produce the most natural CO2 and produce a much better tasting product. You can find beer served this way in Europe and especially in England, but you can also find it at specialty bars in the US. If you contact a local beer club they can tell you where you can find cask ales.

I can asure you that if you drink beer this way you will know what you have been missing. BUT...I have paid as much as $15 for a pint of cask ale, so it ain't cheap. Lambic is absolutely superb brewed in this manner too.

BTW, I have done consulting for many of the major brewers in the US and Canada....there are people that know much more then I do, but I do come from an expert view. I also know: keep an open mind, try stuff, and decide what you like best. They are YOUR taste buds.

I can't drink dark or heavy beer, it gives me horrible heartburn, so I have to stick with lighter beer nowadays.

I have had Pearl beer, like in the original post, when I was stationed in OK in the Army. It was in shorty bottles though, and had little riddles under the cap to figure out when you were plastered.

My favorite beer now is Dos Equis in the green bottle, can't drink the lager in the brown bottle. For cheaper beer, I have to go with Michelob Ultra, although I know it's not a favorite of heavy beer drinkers, because it's a Lite beer. I swear the skinny cans are scientifically engineered to get you to drink more though, because it seems like there's not 12oz of beer in that can, even though there is. I guess the shape of the can kind of feeds it down your throat, and it's such a smooth and lite beer, you can be buzzed before you know it.

There is a lot of people that frown on BL Golden Wheat, but I honestly didn't mind it either. It's just a knock-off Blue Moon brewed by Coors, which is a knock-off of other Wheats. But IMO, knock-offs can taste good too. The thing about BL Golden Wheat is that it's still drinkable as water, not a lot of flavor to slow you down. When I hear that a beer has drinkability, I think that beer doesn't have a lot of flavor or boldness.

Now Michelobe Ultra was mentioned. Ultra used to be my go to beer for some reason. Used to think it had better taste than Bud Light or most other similars but I must have gotten some bad batches for a while. I won't drink Mich Ultra anymore. They have no flavor sorta like bud light, but have a bad alcoholy after taste that I'm picky about with beers. I'm going to have to try it again sometime to give it fair shake, but not anytime soon.

It's been a rough day and since beer was on my mind I thought it was a good time to show off a bit of my collection.

Flying Dog Old Scratch Amber Lager and In-Heat Wheat Hefeweizen. The amber lager has the darker and heavier taste with a lot more emphasis on bittering with hops. It wasn't a complex taste but was good and fairly easy to drink considering I am not too fond of a lot of hops. I had it from the bottle served slightly chilled, almost too warm for my preference.

The Hefeweizen was a great brew. Its hard for me to not enjoy a good wheat beer. Smoother taste compaired to the amber lager. Slightly complex with a couple of subtle undertones, still had a good hoppy flavor at the end but not too bitter.

Blue Moon and the lesser known Honey Moon. Both are good and drinkable. I enjoy the Honey Moon much more and will chose it over Blue Moon every time if given the choice. We all know that blue moon has a orange and citrus flavor so I will go into more detail about Honey Moon. You still get the citrus flavors of Blue Moon in Honey Moon but with less emphasis. Also you get the addition of the honey. Neither is heavy on hops or bitter, honey moon is smoother and easier to drink for me.

Diamond Bear is a local brew in Little Rock. I don't care for anything I have tasted from DB Brewery. However, my mechanic here loves it so I just pay him in Pale Ale. Both of these came straight from the brewery and were very heavy on the hops and very biter, not my style.

Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat, Yum. If you like Blue Moon or any citrus'y beer, this is for you. I've never tasted anything like this before. I've described it before in this thread so I won't go into a lot of detail. It is a pretty complex taste and very strong and complex aroma to go with it. Very good.

Dundee Honey Brown is similar to Honey Moon but a little bit darker and heavier in taste. It is not as focused on citrus flavors. It's more of a typical beer with a slight honey flavor, which can be a good change from straight laced brews. I liked it, good moderation on hops.

Shiner Bohemian Black. Whoa. I've never had Guiness but I imagine this is what it tastes like. Not my favorite. Very dark, chocolatly, coffee-like with an almost weird smokey after taste. Not something I will buy for myself.
