Beer Thread: Your Reviews and Thoughts

I haven't had a BL Lime but once time at a party, so I wasn't really drinking it to taste it, but it was decent as far as Bud light w/ added flavor goes compaired to other similar beers with added lime flavor. I've had Michelobe Catus Lime and BL is much better.

This particular comment has always baffled me. I have been on the floor drunk out of my mind, but my tastebuds never, NEVER stop working. I don't care how drunk I am, I can still taste and so far every beer that I have ever tried has sucked, bad. I think that my true problem with beer started with my first taste, it was Natural Ice and that was the worst tasting **** that I have ever had, it made me hate beer.
I'm not afraid to admit it, and quite hoenstly I really don't give a **** what anyone thinks about it, my social drink of choice is a good ol' Smirnoff Ice, no watermellon or any other jolly rancher flavors just plain jane Smirnoff. My true social lubricant is Jager Bombs and Buttery Nipples or just a good old fashioned shot of Vodka, doesn't get any better than that for me.

Anyhow, It has nothing to do with tastebuds, btw. As anyone will probably tell you, its just that when you're drunk....you just dont give a **** about what you're drinking.
And another thing. Bud Light Lime, fails terribly. Its pretty much a Corona, and I hate Corona. Literally tastes like ****.

As far as the entire scope of beer goes, Bud Light lime does fail. I drink bud light at parties because it's like water, and goes down like water. I'd drink BL w/ Lime if it was an outside summer party.
As far as taste buds going drunk, mine do. When I was about 16, after my 9th Smirnoff, I started drinking beer becuase I couldn't taste it. I don't think drinking Smirnoff is gay, people gotta drink what they like, but it's just not typical of the average male, so it's odd.
Super EDIT: The girlfriend and I are taking our bikes to some trails in Little Rock, then going to a massive liqour store. http://www.colonialwineandspirits.com/
They have tons of beers that you can't find at typical liqour stores, over 800 kinds available on their website. I'm thinking about picking up some Abita Purple Haze rasberry wheat and a few bottles of something new to try.

While I wont argue with your taste in liquor, I will however say, I do question your masculinity a bit, with the above quote. What MAN doesnt drink beer as a primary social drink? Thats just ludicrous.

IMHO I make my decision based on what I like and what tastes good. For me, beer tastes like **** and you have to drink far too much of it to get drunk. An average beer is what, like 1-2% Alcohol? Smirnoff is higher in alcohol content @ 5% and you don't get the after effects of hops/barley/wheat weighing you down and making you smell/feel like ****, that doesn't even mention how bad beer breath is.. :: puke ::
How many of you guys have had hangovers? I've never had one. I've been so drunk that I couldn't walk, couldn't see straight, hell not even talk, but I've never once had a hangover because I don't drink beer.

An averge light beer is 4.5 - 5.5%, about the same as Smirnoff. There are a lot of brews that are 7%+ but nothing anyone here is drinking on a regular basis. Samuel Adams actually brewed a 21% beer not long ago. I can't imagine it tasting very good though. Hangovers are different from person to person in my experience. The only time I get a hangover is when I mix beer and hard alcohol. I know what you mean when you say barely/hops/wheat weighing you down. Thats why a lot of comapines advertise "More Taste, Less Filling", but when I drank Smirnoff, after a few they became like koolaide and was very sweet and sugary tasting and that made me more sick than the feeling of drinking too much beer.
Anyways, I'm not knocking Smirnoff, I used to drink it before I got into trying and experiencing different kind of beers. It's just a matter of taste and I do beleive beer is an aquired taste. I know a lot of people who only drink beer to fit in socially, and that's not right. I'd recommend whatever someone likes.

[QUOTE=WNRacing;446143]I guess if manliness is measured in how big your beer belly is and how much you reek of the disgusting smell of beer then I suppose you're right.
Uhh.....is that not manliness?

Tried some good *** beer tonight. I went to the Flying Saucer bar in Little Rock, AR. If you have a Flying Saucer bar in your town, GO DRINK BEER! They had a whole wall of brews on tap. The atmosphere was great. The waitressess were wearing short skirts and knowledgeable about the beer they had. I went with Amanda and the waitresss even found a beer she liked, which I never thought would happen, she's never had drank beer!
I started off with some Samuel Adams Noble Pils. It is a newer brew from Jim and lives up to the hype given to it by some drinkers. I have always been a fan of wheat and fruit infused beers that don't have a lot of bitterness. I thinks that's all changing. This beer is made with all of what's left of the Noble hopps, and it's GOOD. I had it on tap, which isn't going to be hard to find for most places that carry Samuel Adams seasonals. It had good drinkability with just a hint of the bitter aftertaste. Nothing like my first experience with Samuel Adams Boston Lager back in Memphis, which was YUCK. A good transition beer from something like Bud Light or similars.
Second, I took the plunge into some Rouge Dead Guy ale. I wasn't sure I was going to like it and was almost afraid to ask for it due to what I've head about its hoppiness. I told the girl I wanted it, and I drank the **** out of it. After my first drink, I was pleasently suprised how mild it was. Really not very hoppy or bitter. It had a very good blend and decent flavor. No harsh or sharp tastes, even had an almost fruity hint but it was hard to tell with all the cigerette smoke and stuff in the bar. I would buy a bottle of this to take home every once in a while.
Amanda had Woodchuck cider, which didn't even taste like beer. Tasted like apple cider, she liked it which was good and all that matters. I thought it tasted good too but nothing like beer. Even the food was good, we got some Queso, Quesadilla, and I got a Kick *** Chicken sandwich.
