10 down...25 to go
so over the last month and a half or so, i have been trying to lose weight by changing my diet. pretty much elimiting all soda and pretty much all junk food. i also started to take vitamin c (about 2 glasses of orange juice) everyday. iirc, vitamin c helps turn fat into energy more efficiently.
i weighed myself in this morning and broke my 10lbs goal. begining of the summer i weighed 235lbs and today i weighed 224.
i am 5'8" and have a very muscular build so i am not going to be in the "ideal" weight of 13x-16x. my next target is to get back to 200lbs during the school year which shouldnt be hard since i have my own kitchen (wooooo!!! no more cafeteria food for 9 months) so i can cook my own meals. i will also be stocking up on nut (walnuts, almonts, unsalted peanuts) for snacks and stuff.
unfortunately, it the progress will be slowed with the partying on thrusdays thru saturdays. lol.

I'm at 184ish right now, trying to lose about 15lb of fat but gain 10 lb of muscle. Has to all be done by working out now so diet won't help so much, I already don't drink soda or alcohol, and don't eat fast food so I'm not worried about my dieting much. My goal is just to be able to do 15 pullups by Oct 1, 45 pushups, and 100 situps in 2 minutes. Right now I'm at like 4 / 25/ 61. Gotta get to work, buying a pullup bar this weekend.
Oh, and try to do a 3 mile run in 25 minutes. I ******* hate running.

He is thin, but he's not like holocaust survivor thin.
Congrats to you guys who are trying to lose (or in Ryan's case; gain) weight. You guys have more willpower than I do. No way could I give up my sweets and junk food! I've never weighed more than 115lbs and I've managed to maintain my weight since high school. How, I don't know because I eat bad. I know it will catch up with me one day. And I'm lazy so I will be in deep **** when it comes to having the willpower to lose the weight.

Congrats man. I am going to try to lose some weight myself. I have always been under weight at around 115-120 at 5'9" until I went in the Army when I "bulked up" to 135 (ALL muscle mass). In the last year or so my metabolism and activeness has slowed and now I'm at 165 with significantly less muscle mass than when I was in the Army. I want to try to get back around 135-140.

I've been hanging around 155 (5'7") since my sophmore year in highschool. I was 135 my freshman year but football and powerlifting put a bit of muscle on me. Now I'm a senior in college and just trying to stay lean. I have watched a lot of my friends get fat over the years since highschool graduation. One of my best friends though has lost quite a bit of weight and is really getting into working out and lifting, which is good because he was obese.

beer is only ocational....but soda is off the charts...i drink soda like water. that is what is putting weight on

Try drinking diet soda and just limit the amount you drink. Yeah I know, diet tastes like crap, but seriously, once you start drinking it, you'll get use to it and it will taste just like regular soda.

In my experience....you really dont have to diet to lose weight as long as you bust *** working out 4 days a week. I could never diet. Im a fat kid at heart. Since highschool though I have gained about...15 pounds maybe...Im somehwere between 195-200 right now, but Im 5'11 so Im still looking good. haha. Its just about time for me to start working out again though. I gotta get yak, bro!

I weighed in at 180 yesterday, I'm 5'9". I weighed 180 when I was in my late 20's, I've weighed as much as 198 during my fast food days. I was down to 175 for the last 4 years, and couldn't gain weight no matter what..
I got sick in 93 thru 95 and weighed 145 at my worst. Got better and I now realize that staying active, staying away from fast food, and stay moving all day will keep me at a consistant weight. Amd I'm pushing 50 yrs old.. I can eat any kinda food as long as it's during the active part of my day, (at work). I don't eat before bed, or before work, ( not heavy meals anyway).
I really think if you limit fast food you will loose weight. That stuff will make you fat. Just like most people you see eating that stuff. Plus you can't trust an underpaid, overworked, young person to give a **** about what you get in your bag.. McDonalds is the worst for doing that. Uggh. Even the managers don't give a flip if you get a spit burger..

This is probably one of the best articles I have read on the subject of weight loss.
