This sucks!
So i was really looking forward to buying a chin spoiler and spending the extra cash from graduation this thursday when my iphone decides to slide off my hands and and slam on the concrete, screen first.
amazing how i was just hoping to maybe even get to lower the car or something, and i end up with a $200 phone-repair bill. the screen is shattered and we all know an iphone is worthless without a working screen.

gnarkillll man. that's shitty. I've had about 15 different phones in the past year, I have really bad luck, half of them was due to a stupid *** ex girlfriend pissing me off though. I got a hold of an LG VU for cheap so I'm hoping it lasts longer than the usual 2 months.

yeah that sucks. I've only broken 2 phones and really only one was completely useless afterward. Was a little intoxicated and jumped in a lake not knowing my phone was in my pocket, that one truly never returned from the dead.
My last one I dropped my iphone on cement like you did except if fell on one of the sides and just separated the screen a little and the silent switch no longer worked. Brought it into the apple store (skipped ATT altogether) and they ended up replacing it with a brand new iphone free of charge (had no warranty). I was very lucky

see, i have warranty and all that, but they said it doesn't cover the screen. and later i learned that the screen on these things is the most expensive part. I woke up today hoping it was a dream, and it wasn't. lol
I like how we all have the same color stangs in this thread...haha

1. buy one of the rubberized cases for the iphone, it will save it in every "drop" unless the corner of something directly hits the screen
2. get cell phone insurance, its cheap.
3. get rid of your iphone, its just a bad phone

my buddy did the same thing man. he bought a new screen online for 75 bucks and fixed it himself. he said it wasn't easy figuring it out..but it was a good challenge and very doable. I'd look into it.

the hardshell cases are terrible. they make cases that are rubber, i think they might be the ones they call "skins" and they go over the over. its literally rubber, they grip onto surfaces so they don't slide around and if you drop the phone itll bounce a little bit if the corner of the phone hits the ground. it saved my phone many times when i had an iphone.
in any case, get cell phone insurance if you're worried about physical damage or loss/theft. it can be had for like, 5$-15$/month, check it out online.
EDIT:
i had this: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...48&dcaid=17902
you can take that belt clip thing off (its a really shitty clip anyway), but the rubber case is badass. i also got some of the clear screen protectors to prevent scratches/finger prints. they're cheap and washable. i know belkin makes some, a bunch of different companies do. cheap investment to keep an expensive phone in good shape.

Blackberries are like that too. The warranty does not cover a lot of things. My son had one and his charging port stopped working (he didn't even drop it) and had insurance on it. He called the people (sprint and blackberry) and they told him that they only cover "internal parts" and the port was not internal. I called them for him and played the dumb 'ole boy from Loo-zee-anna (I doughnut understand. If I have ta plug this thingy into dat little hole there, then don't dat make it inter-whatever?) and got him a new phone anyway, but it was a hassle. You may be able to get it covered by having someone play stupid, or having a girl call for you.

If you buy the iphone at bestbuy they offer a full warranty on it, you can literally buy the phone, walk outside, throw it into the wall and break it into a thousand pieces, gather up all the pieces and they give you a new phone.
I got the rubber "Jam jacket" for the iphone, i drop my phone on a daily basis and the rubber iphone jacket has saved this phone so many times.
