Default Mach 1 or 03/04 Cobra?

Ok so it's coming up on 2 weeks until I can get a new car. I've had my mind set on a Cobra for awhile now, but I've stumbled upon this Mach 1 and can't stop thinking about it
http://www.mach1registry.org/forums/...ad.php?t=86896
Absolutely beautiful, everything done to it and wow am I a sucker for the sound of those cams. Price is a lot better than any Cobra too, I'll pay at least 3k more for a Cobra plus the cost to have it shipped here and higher insurance also. this Mach 1 is in my state and have already talked to the owner about meeting halfway too if I decide to get it.

I would love a Cobra too and I know the numbers they are capable of, but this Mach is one of a kind.

What do you guys think, the more affordable but just as sick Mach, or a S/C 03/04 Cobra?

I don't like the wheels on that Mach, but otherwise it looks great . I say go for it.

Buy the Mach 1. That's one sweet car. It's got a bunch of mods on it already that I doubt you'll come close to with the cobra. Besides the differance between it and cobra is a supercharger. Muy the mach and slap on that new Kenne Bell Mamoth or the 3.4l Whipple kit and you'll be making just as much HP as the cobras and you already have a beefed up solid axle rear end.

I could be wrong but I thought the Cobra guys had to switch to a solid axle once they reach a certain amount of HP and torque.

If I had the money I'd be tempted to fly out there, buy it and drive it back. It's out of my price range though and I'd hate to try and get it to pass smog here in CA.

My only concern would be, isn't the mach 1 hood stripe supposed to be matte black vs. shiny? Plus the hood stripe looks to be a bit wider than it should be. And isn't there a front fender badge on them? Other than that it is a very sweet looking Mustang.. I mean sweeeet.

The badge was taken off and the holes were filled in and sanded and smoothed out when it was repainted, and that stripe is painted also. Yeah I know I'd love the power of the super charger, but this car is becoming more and more irresistible. The effort and work put into this is unreal.

cobra....those cams are only nice when your at idle....but when your cruising, you wont hear them....when you hit the throttle of the cobra..."WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA", you can hear that supercharger....then, if you want, just add cams to the cobra.

besides, from what it seems, this will be your dd...the cobra would be better since the cams he put in that mach are not very streetable.

The Mach is super nice. BUT, that means that someone else has done all of the work to it already. If you get a Cobra you'd have a somewhat mostly stock car in which you can mod yourself. Not saying that the Mach is bad, but for me I'd much rather have something to work on. If it's already at full potential minus a supercharger I'd be bored with it....

Cobra's do have an issue as far as the IRS being a bitch when launching off of high horsepower but if you get one of the beefy covers you can easily sooth your worries. Or just pop in an 8.8".

The Mach is sick, but with the Cobra coming factory supercharged along with the 4V and IRS. It's almost a no-brainer.

I honestly would rather have a 99/01 Cobra or a 03-04 Mach1 then a cobra. Just because I would want something different. I also like the Mach1's because they come with a 4v and a solid rear end which I would rather have.

The amount of money that went into that mach makes it a deal breaker for me I would go with the mach. Hell on nitrous it will run a cobra anyway sure you don't get to mod it yourself but that means you don't have to spend more money on it after you get it for a good long time

with an 11.45 on nitrous you can run with a z06 for 18k thats not bad

Yeah I know, and you can tell that everything has been done the right way too. I would never be able to do all of that stuff to a Cobra, or at least it would take years and years to pay for...but also a stock Cobra is already faster than that Mach. Either way though i still have 2 weeks, I'm almost hoping he sells the Mach to make my decision easier. Man is that one hell of a car though

Are you keeping your v6 as your DD?

a stock cobra is only barely faster and with the nitrous the cobra would get left in the dust

he says it ran a 12.6 on motor which is right about where a stock cobra will be but the cobra will cost you more especially if you find one with only 22k on the clock if you put a supercharger or a twin turbo on that thing you could push it up to close to 500rwhp without any trouble

No, I have it for sale now. The new car will for the most part be my dd, my sister is selling me her 80's Topaz for a couple hundred dollars so on bad weather days the new car will stay under the cover and in the winter it will be in storage.

If you do buy a cobra I'm sure you will have fun with that too but if you want more power out of it you will run into the same issue or replacing the S/C

the mach it pretty close to the cobra on ALL MOTOR

True but we're talking about a stock Cobra, it's open to a ton of modding before I would get to replacing the s/c. All the ones I have been looking at already had some modding and were already pushing 450rwp with dyno videos to show it.

But they already have a S/C on them if you did that to the mach it would beat them for around 22k total

and are you planning on not spraying because you seem to be disregarding the fact that the mach has 455 on the bottle

I'd take the mach in a heart beat. I'm a little biased since I had a mach and loved it.

I don't plan on racing for quite awhile and yes the nitrous kit on it is super nice, I would rather have the raw power that an s/c puts out though.

I think plans might have just changed

I would lean toward buying a car with less mods. That way I could do my own custom work.

All the above cars are awesome and it'd be sick to own all of them.

I just couldn't see myself driving a 450 rwhp car everday. It just doesn't make sense.

Lol!

I love machs, but if I had the money and if insurance wasn't a problem, I would take a Cobra over it no doubt.
