2 questions..

I just bought a 09 45th anni GT.. sweet ride... but when i left the dealershp , i heard a noise from the tires.. like a light tapping noise... after 1 mile the sound dissapeared.. i drove the car home. 3 hours later i decided to go out. i got in the car and the tire light is on... so i went to the dealership and it was closed... i then drove my car to the mechanic and he checked the tires and found a massive nail logged into the tire.. he said it wasnt on the wall of the tire, but its less than an inch away. he said the tire is no good. to take it back to ford.. Now will ford issue me a new tire? plz help, i do not want to pay a crapload of money for a new perelli pzero nero tire...

Also on the car there is a little phone button on the radio.. when clicked it says NO PHONE.. does that mean i can some how hook my phone up and use it through the car? if not wouldnt it be pointless to have it there.. please help

 

Does it say Aux, or what does the button say? And if your car is under warranty and you have stock rims and tires they should replace it.

 

If you just bought it, I imagine that you'd be under warranty. And I'm pretty sure the phone dealio is a service you have to pay for, either that or it's a bluetooth thing but I'm not sure. Just wait for the dealership to open and before driving there, call them and ask if you're still under warranty.

 

They asked me if i wanted to buy a rim and tire package if anythiing ever happens to it that it is covered. it was 500 bucks. i said no.. is it still covered under factory warrenty for a certain ammount of time?

They are not gonna give you a new tire because you ran over a nail. Pay the 7 bucks it costs to buy a plug kit and do it yourself its super easy and its something everyone should learn how to do at some point to save some money.

That button is to turn the radio down or off when you get a phone call if its like the older cars.

 

It should say on one of the papers that you signed during the buying process. Usually there are general service warranties that vary from 30-60 and occasionally 90 days. But call or check through your paperwork to be certain.

As far as the tire is concerned, the new Mustang that I am looking at comes with a 6 year roadside assistance plan. Yours might have something similar.

 

You're not supposed to plug a tire if the damage is on/near the sidewall.

 

Yea, remember he said he talked to the mechanic or whatever and he said the tire was gone.

 

hopefully you opted in your car insurance plan for road hazzard coverage

 

The Tire: Talk to the dealer and present\press your case in a "it would be a good customer service gesture that you'de be sure to talk up to your friends and family that also maybe in the market for a new Ford.

If that doesn't work, my underhanded and ethically challenged idea would to be to buy a new tire from a multi-location shop (say Merchants) along with the warranty that's always offered with it. Buy it at Shop Location 1. Don't have them mount it. Now, here's two options;

Option 1: Take the new tire and have it mounted elsewhere. A little bit later, take the old tire in with your nail in it, and buy\get a new one for it as a replacement using your warranty. Again, don't have the replacement mounted. Then take the replacement to Shop Location 2 as a return for a refund.

Option 2: Leave your old tire on. Wait a couple days\week\whatever time you feel is good, then take you car in to Shop Location 2 and present your old tire (that's still mounted on your car) as the one you bought at Shop Location 1, and use your warranty to get a replacement. Then return the first tire you bought at Shop Location 1 back to Shop Location 1 for a refund.

The Phone Button: Some cars allow you to "attach" your phone to the radio of the car via a bluetooth connection. When you make or recieve a call, you hit the button, and the radio volume will go off\down and\or your conversation will be played out over the cars speakers.
