Default How About This Laptop?

If it gets the thumbs up then my girlfriend is probably going to buy it for herself. I know it's not the best of the best but for the price it seems pretty decent. I don't know a whole lot about computer specs, what's good, what I (she) needs. So what do you think about it, what does it need, is it a good value?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218041148844

Has Vista 64 bit w/ SP1, 4GB DDR2 (expandable to 8GB), and Wireless N.
Also let me know what is good about this laptop, anything that is a good benefit.
Thanks for any comments.

Yeah, that's plenty of power for a pretty cheap price. It'll handle everything except gaming.

My laptop has far worse specs and it's been doing everything I need it to do.

Screw that go to dell and go to their refurbished section and you can get a great laptop for cheap. We just got a dual core 2.4ghz 3gigs of ram, 250gig hard drive 512 video card wireless with windows vista (sucks ***) for $538 shipped to our door. Go look they have new computers come up for sale almost every minute or two. Much better deals and its basically a new computer for half the cost in many cases.

its pretty nice, HP makes quality budget laptops. I had a similiar one in white; the build quality was great and it felt real nice. Pretty fast for what it was, but not necessarily a gaming rig. I sold it on ebay and then bought a gateway p6860fx which slays it. I then swapped its cpu to a faster one. I love the gateway FX series you should look into them.

Why would this laptop not be good for games? Is the graphics card not up to par? Should she even think about expanding to 8 Gigs of ram? I doubt she need it considering were working with 512mb of DDR ram at them moment.

The laptop's fine....Anything running Vista pretty much blows in retrospect to gaming. I have a XP Ultimate with 4gbs and a single 9800 GTX+ and it kills my dad's Vista Ultimate 6gb with a 9800 GTX+.

For her, that'll do pretty much anything you want it to. That's one of the better laptops from BBY in my opinion. 12-cell battery and 4gbs of ram is pretty damn good.

Ok, everything sounds good, except vista, which sucks becuase it is the default OS. She will probably get it towards the end of the week or sometime soon, up to her. When we have time we are going to go look closely at some laptops in the stores. I wanna ram 8 gigs of ram into the laptop, I've actually didn't know you could put that much into one. Mine came with 512mb and is upgradable to only 2 gigs.

you should be good. I don't know a lot about computers but my laptop runs vista and has 4gb of ram and it runs great. I don't play games just standard stuff like Microsoft Office, music, video and its great. Processor is Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4ghz... don't know how that compares to what yours says though lol. I don't even think i have a video card.. not sure though. Do have an HDMI port that comes in handy for TV shows and movies

Yea Vista 64-bit can actually handle up to 32 gbs of ram, but your laptop doesn't have the room for that and they don't make 8gbs per stick yet (it will come though). I hope you like it.

Thanks for the help. I want to make sure she is making a good purchase. She bought a Ipod touch today, it's fun to see her get so happy about buying herself stuff.
